In a move that seemed to be inevitable for the last couple of weeks, the NFLPA finally went through with their decertification on Friday, opening the door for the players to file antitrust lawsuits against the NFL. This means that, because the two sides couldn’t figure out how to divide up $9 billion, negotiations have currently broken off. Apparently, the two sides did get closer to a deal in the last few days, but not nearly close enough, as the two sides are still $185 million a year apart compared to $1 billion a year a week ago. The players, led by Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Peyton Manning on the paperwork filed, have gone to the courts to sue the NFL owners.

Obviously, this newest development isn’t good news, but I still believe we will have football in the coming season. I can’t believe that the two sides would let a lockout continue into the season and let all of that money go, but I guess you just never know. I don’t want to tell anyone else how to react to all of this news, but as for me, I will continue to look forward to the upcoming draft and just hope that the two sides make something happen before this thing gets out of hand. At this point, I don’t even want to consider what life would be like without the NFL.
