Now that Jeff Fisher is in place as Rams head coach, it’s time to start looking ahead at who will be filling out his coaching staff. The name coming out in the rumor mill right now is former Jets OC Brian Schottenheimer.

I heard Schottenheimer mentioned as a candidate as soon as he left the Jets earlier this offseason, so he is definitely a serious candidate. He is interviewing with Nick Saban for the opening on the Alabama staff, but it sounds like the Rams will be a player as well.

As far as Schottenheimer goes, I like the fit here. The Jets offense struggled a bit this season, but it sounds like that was more of a personality issue with the players than coaching. He did help his team to two straight AFC Championship games in the two seasons before that, so you have to like that he has won in the postseason. We don’t know what will happen, but it should be interesting as all the open positions continued to be filled in the coming weeks.
