For those of you who were hoping to get one last chance to see Sam Bradford play this season, it looks like you are going to have to wait. Bradford – along with backup AJ Feeley – both missed practice again on Thursday and are expected to miss Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Kellen Clemens is expected to make his third-consecutive start when the team takes to the field on Sunday.

Considering that the 49ers have a scary defense and considering they still have something to play for, it’s definitely the right move to go with Clemens. In fact, D’Marco Farr said Thursday on 101 ESPN that he has it on good authority that the Niners are going to throw everything they have at Clemens to try to bury the Rams early.

If the Rams do lose and the Indianapolis Colts win their third-straight game against Jacksonville, then St. Louis will receiver the number one overall pick in the upcoming draft. The Jags are certainly a winnable game for the Colts, but it will be interesting to see if they tank to get that pick. I never root for the Rams to lose, but I won’t be heartbroken if they get that top pick.

The Rams aren’t going as far as ruling QB Sam Bradford out for Saturday’s game in Pittsburgh, but it is highly, highly likely that Kellen Clemens is going to get the start against the Steelers. Bradford was unable to practice again Thursday, and Spags said that it’s unlikely he will test the ankle out during Friday’s walk-through. Again, no surprise here but everyone should be prepared to see Clemens under center again.

Speaking of injured QB’s, AJ Feeley also missed practice again on Thursday and has been ruled out for Saturday. Unless something crazy happens between now and then, Clemens and Tom Brandstater will be the only dressed signal-callers. Considering the potential for injury against a Steelers defense that is tough under normal situations is bad, and factoring in the fact that James Harrison is coming off a suspension and will likely try to decapitate the first person he sees, it’s good that we have two injury-free quarterbacks available. More on next page…

Bad news from Rams Park on Wednesday, as quarterback Sam Bradford was back in a walking boot and is expected to miss Sunday’s game against the Bengals after a setback with his ankle injury. Assuming Bradford is out, it looks like recent addition Kellen Clemens will get the start.

There’s no question that this is disappointing, but honestly I think I prefer Bradford sitting out if the ankle is not in good shape. The Rams aren’t playing for anything other than pride, and there’s no reason to risk serious injury that could affect next season. Bradford is too important to this franchise to have him completely blow out a knee or something because he can’t move in the pocket. We all want to see him play, but the right move is to sit right now, especially considering the team is on a short week after the Monday night game.

The rest of the list of inactives is long, but that doesn’t mean all of these guys will be unavailable Sunday. The list includes Craig Dahl, A.J. Feeley, Josh Gordy, James Hall, Mark LeVoir, Chris Long, Eugene Sims, and Stephen Spach. Feeley is expected to be out, and Chris Long is still very sore. I expect Long to play as he has the last few weeks, but it sounds like the ankle is becoming a problem.
