The St. Louis Rams continued adding to their roster on Sunday, as they inked first-rounder Robert Quinn and former Denver DT Justin Bannan to deals. According to sources, Quinn’s deal is four-years with an option for a fifth, while Bannan’s is reportedly for three years. These moves are in addition to the team’s previous signings that included WR Mike Sims-Walker, CB Al Harris, LB Zac Diles, G Harvey Dahl, S Quintin Mikell, and the rest of the 2011 rookie draft class.

Rams fans have to be happy with what the team has done so far. It might not be the big-name players that have been speculated over the last few months, but the team has brought in quality players at need positions, and they aren’t breaking the bank to do so. Getting Quinn and the rest of the rookies done was important, especially considering the limited camp time this season, so I have to commend the organization for identifying what they needed to do and getting it done. I’m sure we aren’t done yet, because the team still needs a running back and could probably use another linebacker, so keep your eyes out for more news in the coming days.

The names I’m still hearing as far as backs go are Jason Snelling and Jerome Harrison, but don’t be shocked up another player jumps into the group. As far as linebackers go, the Rams have been in contact with Brady Poppinga and he is expected to be in for a visit on Sunday. For those of you asking about Mark Clayton, apparently his knee is not sufficiently recovered yet so he likely won’t be signed until he advances in his recovery.

As far as Jacob Bell goes, it sounds like he and James Butler are trying to restructure their contracts to stay with the team. It was reported last night that Bell was going to be released, but he is working with the team on his deal and was apparently in attendance today at camp. We should know more in the coming days, so stay tuned.

Before I get started, just wanted to let everyone know that Sam Bradford and the Rams’ offense is on the front page of the fantasy sports page at Yahoo. It doesn’t really mean anything, but just wanted to let you all know.

The next week is going to be absolutely nuts all over the NFL, and our St. Louis Rams are certainly no different. As many time lines as we have seen recently, it looks like we finally have an actual, concrete list of dates for the next few weeks up to the first preseason game Saturday, August 13 against the Colts at the Jones Dome. Obviously, you shouldn’t be shocked if something changes with these at some point, but it looks like this list provided by Jim Thomas should be as close to accurate as we can get right now. Some of these dates will be affected depending on how long it takes to ratify the agreed-upon CBA, so keep that in mind as well.

Tuesday – Rams Park facilities open to players
- Team can sign all rookies – drafted or undrafted - starting at 9 a.m. St. Louis time.
- Team can negotiate with - but not sign - all veteran free agents, whether on Rams roster last season or on other rosters.

Thursday – Teams can waive or terminate player contracts as of 3:01 p.m. St. Louis time.

Friday – First day of Rams training camp. Activity limited to physicals and team meetings.
- Team may sign free agents and/or renegotiate existing contracts as of 5 p.m. St. Louis time.
- Signed rookies may participate immediately in physical activity; newly signed veteran players cannot take part in physical activity until new CBA is ratified.

Saturday – No pads or contact allowed at Rams practice.

Sunday – No pads or contact allowed at Rams practice.

Monday, Aug. 1 – First day that Rams are allowed to have padded practice.

Thurs. Aug. 4 – League year begins if collective bargaining agreement is ratified. All clubs must be under salary cap. (League year can begin before Aug. 4 if CBA ratified before then.)

Sat. Aug. 13 – Preseason opener vs. Indianapolis at Edward Jones Dome, 7 p.m.

It was an awfully busy weekend for the Rams, as the team has signed several draft picks for the upcoming season. The team started the free-for-all by inking LB Josh Hull and DE George Selvie to four-year deals. Then, the team finalized a deal with TE Michael Hoomanawanui, a guy who coaches have been very impressed with thus far. Finally, the team gave third round CB Jerome Murphy a four-year, $2.152 million deal that included a $937,739 signing bonus. Murphy is the highest pick of this year’s draft to sign a deal thus far.

As far as the big boys go, no deal is in place for Sam Bradford or Rodger Saffold. It is my understanding that the Saffold deal should be done before training camp, and the hope is that Bradford will be locked up very near the beginning of camp. Obviously, the Bradford deal will be a difficult one to get done, but I fully expect Saffold to be signed and sealed in the next few weeks. At this point, I will be a bit surprised if we can’t get the Bradford deal done relatively quickly as it gets closer to training camp, but with first overall picks you just never know. I will make sure to keep everyone updated when any other picks get signed.
