Well it obviously wasn’t pretty, but I think the Rams will take it. Thanks to a missed field goal on a botched snap in the final minutes of the game, the Rams were able to get past the Cleveland Browns on the road by a score of 13-12. It was kind of nice to see bad luck/shooting yourself in the foot happen to someone else instead of the Rams for a change, but all in all I thought we played pretty well. The mistakes were still there - some worse than others – but I saw plenty of good things on both sides of the ball. If you didn’t get a chance to see the game, here are some of the most important things you should know:

1. The Rams were hammered again by the injury bug, as numerous players were forced to leave the game. We won’t get an official report from Spags until Monday, but initial reports are that Michael Hoomanawanui and Al Harris could miss the rest of the season with knee injuries. Rodger Saffold left with a possible concussion and didn’t return, Darian Stewart left a couple of different times and suffered a neck injury, and Cadillac WIlliams left with a quad injury. Again, stay tuned tomorrow for a full report from Spags.

2. Steven Jackson carried the offense again, as he finished with 128 yards on 27 rushes and 23 receiving yards as well. This was his third 100-yard game in a row, and he looked unstoppable for much of the day. He is really starting to peak right now after starting the season off with injury, so this offense needs to be better around him to take advantage.

3. Brandon Lloyd again led the team in receptions and receiving yards, and he also made it into the end zone for the only TD of the game for either team. His touchdown catch was very nice, but he made a one-handed catch on the sideline that was absolutely astounding. This guy is special, and if you haven’t seen the catch you should find a clip. More on next page…

The injury news is still good for the Rams, and it looks the team will be at nearly 100 percent going into Sunday’s huge matchup with the Chiefs. Ron Bartell, Jacob Bell, and Donnie Jones were all full participants in practice Friday and are all listed as probable. Kenneth Darby was limited in practice with a rib injury, and it looks like he will be out this weekend. Apparently he has some cracked ribs, so expect Keith Toston to be the third down back. David Nixon was limited in practice as well, but it looks like there’s still a possibility he could go.

As far as Matt Cassel goes, he has been getting reps in practice this week and he is being called a game-time decision. I can’t say for sure that he will play, but I would be willing to wager a lot of money that he starts against the Rams. After the Chargers won on Thursday, any hope we had of seeing Brodie (0-10) Croyle probably went out the window.

The Rams were back on the practice field Wednesday, and the injury report looks pretty good as of right now. Ron Bartell was on the field today and he did individual work and some of the team activities, so he looks like he will be able to go Sunday. That’s very good news, because it’s obvious we need him in the game. Jacob Bell was limited with a bruised knee, and he will be evaluated further as the week goes on. Ken Darby and Justin King were also limited today, but the fact that they participated at all is a good sign for this weekend. Newest Rams David Nixon had surgery earlier this week for a fractured hand, but he isn’t being ruled out for Sunday just yet either.

On the Chiefs side, the obvious injury note is quarterback Matt Cassel. For those of you who don’t know, Cassel missed last Sunday’s game after undergoing an emergency appendectomy last week. Cassel has been practicing in a limited fashion this week, but I fully expect him to be under center on Sunday. The Chiefs had 67 total yards in their loss to the Chargers last week, so if he is walking, he will play. I certainly don’t think he will be at 100 percent, but even if he isn’t, he’s still better than backup Brodie (0-10 as an NFL starter) Croyle.
