For those of you who are keeping close tabs on this whole NFL/Lockout business, you are well aware of the drama from Thursday night. For those of you that aren’t, a website for a newspaper in the Northeast posted a story that cited a source that said the lockout is “almost over.” According to the report from the Eagle Tribune in North Andover, MA, “owners and players were close to an agreement today to end the lockout.” Moving on, the story says “Some coaches and players have been contacted about returning to work probably early next week and possibly as soon as this weekend.”

In response to the report, both the NFL and the players released statements saying the lockout is still on. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello posted: “Joint NFL-NFLPA-Yogi Berra Statement: ‘It’s not over till it’s over.” Player’s rep George Atallah, who has been on St. Louis radio numerous times over the last few months, posted “There’s a report that the lockout is over. Umm…no.”

Being a reporter myself, I don’t like to bash other reporters or their stories, and I actually think he may be at least a little accurate. He never said it was over, but he did say it was close. I think it might actually be close, but we really won’t know until it’s actually over. I’ve seen numerous internet posts hammering this guy,
