Rams QB Sam Bradford talked with the media Thursday after practice, and he sounded pretty confident that he would be able to play Monday night against Seattle. Obviously, he wasn’t likely to be negative, but I really got the feeling he plans to being ready. “I hope [I can play]. I really haven’t done a whole lot, but try to rehab and try to get it back to functional where I can play. I’m really not sure when I’m going to get back on the field and try it out, but I think that’s coming later this week. Hopefully, everything is good and hopefully it’s healed enough, so that I can go on Monday.”

So Bradford expects to get back on the practice field at some point this week, and assuming he does that I’d say there’s a good chance he goes Monday. Also, even if he doesn’t practice at all this week, I think there’s still a decent chance he plays if the ankle feels better. “Obviously, I would like to be at practice. Especially, you put in new plays every week and it would be nice to be in there and rep those and get the timing. But for the most part I feel comfortable enough with everything that we have that I should be able to play if I don’t practice.”

Bradford also said that he has not needed a walking boot at all since reinjuring the ankle and that the injury is starting to feel about how it did the first time when he made his return. All of this is good news, but the doctors are going to be careful with this thing, especially since the Rams have nothing to play for. He’s certainly not a sure thing, but I feel pretty good about his chances to play on the big stage in Seattle. More on next page…

The hits just keep on coming. Rams OT Rodger Saffold missed practice on Friday after suffering a pectoral injury while lifting weights Friday morning. Saffold had an MRI, and the results were that he has a “significant” injury that could require season-ending surgery. The team isn’t calling it a torn pec just yet, but it’s looking like that could be the case. Obviously this is terrible news with Jason Smith already out, and I think there is serious concern that this could be an injury that affects Saffold for the rest of his career. Like always, we’ll just have to see if/when he has surgery and how that goes, but he won’t play on Sunday. Mark LeVoir will start in his place.

The rest of the injury news is about the same as yesterday. Justin King didn’t practice Friday but the team hopes he’ll be ready to play Sunday. Lance Kendricks, Brandon Gibson, Jerious Norwood, Bryan Kehl and Josh Hull all practiced Friday and all are expected to play. It looks like Kendricks is pretty close to full strength.

Danario Alexander was out again today, and he probably won’t be playing Sunday. I get the feeling everyone is a little frustrated with DX not progressing – nobody more than DX himself – but the team isn’t going to rush him out there until he is ready. They are hoping he will be able to practice this week, but it’s just going to depend on how the injury responds early in the week.

It’s almost becoming dangerous to play cornerback for the Rams these days. Justin King, who had just been cleared for contact after suffering a mild concussion over the weekend, left midway through practice on Thursday after turning an ankle. Spags called it a tweak when he spoke to the media after practice, but there hasn’t been any word on the severity just yet. If King can’t go, the Rams will obviously have a problem. They are already down to the likes of Rod Hood and Nate Ness, so this may be an issue. We’ll get an update Friday at practice, so stay tuned.

On the good news front, Rodger Saffold was cleared for contact and he is expected to start Sunday against Seattle. He will need to make it to the game without suffering a setback, but it looks like all things will be a go. Lance Kendricks is also recovering nicely and he could be available Sunday as well. After the loss of Illini Mike, it would be huge if Kendricks would be able to go. Jerious Norwood practiced Thursday as well, and it looks like he will be available on Sunday to back up SJ39.

The news isn’t so good on Danario Alexander, who isn’t progressing from his hamstring injury. He had a bad day on Thursday according to Spags, and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be ready. Cadillac Williams is also expected to be out Sunday.
