We have already talked at length about former equipment manager Todd Hewitt and his suit against the Rams claiming age discrimination in his firing. Well, that’s not the only problem for the organization anymore. Former executive assistant Lory Fabian is suing the Rams and executive Vice President of sales and marketing Bob Reif for age discrimination and sexual harassment.

According to the suit, Fabian claims the Rams targeted middle-aged women and replaced them with younger employees. She also claims that Reif touched her in an unwanted fashion and that when she complained about it, the organization punished her for it.

If any of this is true, the Rams could be in big trouble. These are serious allegations, and considering there is already an age discrimination claim out there, it’s hard to dismiss what she is saying. Fabian names former coach Steve Spagnuolo and current COO Kevin Demoff specifically in the claim, saying Demoff told her that no one liked her and she was too old for her job. This thing isn’t going away any time soon.

The Rams haven’t had many bright spots in the franchise over the last several years, but Chris Long and James Laurinaitis have been are the present and future of this franchise. The good news is that the organization feels the same way. Rams VP Kevin Demoff did a chat over at the team’s website, and he said the team has started the process of negotiating long-term deals with the duo.

“We have been focused on clearing up our salary cap situation over the past few years to make sure in 2013 we had the available space to re-sign our key core young players, such as Long and Laurinaitis. We’re in the process of starting initial conversations with both players, and I’m optimistic that both will wear the horns for years to come. We have plenty of cap room in 2013 and the plan is to re-sign both of them.”

First of all, I recommend anyone who is a Rams fan go to the team site and read the chat in its entirety. There is a ton of info there, so much so that I can’t possibly get to it all here. There is plenty of moving/Dome talk, so check it out.

Now, back to Long and Laurinaitis. I’m a huge fan of both of these guys, so the fact that the team is making signing them a priority is a very good thing. Laurinaitis is one of the most consistent, reliable players in the league, and I think Long is on the verge of becoming a star. The Rams look like they are committed to having a dominant defense for years to come, and keeping Laurinaitis and Long is the first step.

The Rams made it official on Tuesday and introduced their new GM, Les Snead, to he world. Snead and the rest of the Rams bigwigs participated in a press conference, and although nothing major came out of it, it was still nice to hear what everyone had to say.

My first impression of Snead was very positive, and I thought he said all the right things. His personel work has been impressive, and it seems like he is on the same page as Jeff Fisher and the rest of the organization. Here are some quotes from Snead.

“Thank you, Kevin. I’ll start by thanking Mr. Kroenke for this very distinct opportunity. I want to thank Kevin (Demoff), Jeff (Fisher) for inviting me into their partnership. I’m looking forward to that. I will say this, this was, and I said, it’s a distinct opportunity because when I started the process I really respected Mr. Kroenke’s paradigm for organizational leadership, the way he sets it up. I really respect Kevin and his intelligence, his knowledge of the business, football and his vision for this organization. And with Jeff, he’s a proven winner. He’s proven that he’s going to put a competitive football team on the field consistently, so that was a very distinct opportunity that I wanted to take advantage of. I think we have a quarterback here. I think we have some young players here, and I think we have some very good picks in this draft to get this team better as well as free agency. That was the opportunity I wanted to take and I’m glad to be here.

I will say this, just a quick philosophy, I do want this organization to be an organization that understands how to build, develop, and coach it’s football team to win division championships consistently, and that’s what we’re going to do. You’re going to hear me say a lot of times that everybody in this building is going to be passionate about winning. Every player, every staff member, every coach. We’re going to have a purpose. We’re going to understand what we’re trying to accomplish and why it works. And then we’re going to go thrive, and you’ll hear me say that a lot.
