If you are looking for something to do on Saturday afternoon, might I recommend a trip to the Edward Jones Dome to watch the Rams scrimmage. The Rams have set the scrimmage for 12:30 p.m., and it is expected to last for about two hours or so. Players will be signing autographs after, so it should be a pretty fun day.

The team has held the scrimmage at Lindenwood University for tb last few years, but I like that they moved to the Dome this time. I know many of you out there like me are craving some football, and the scrimmage is usually pretty interesting and informative for fans. This team has plenty of position battles going on right now, and the scrimmage gives fans a kind of sneak peek at some of those players before the preseason opens up on the 12th.

For anyone who is a season ticket holder, you have the opportunity to arrive at 10 a.m. to go down on the field and tour the locker room. That part of the event should be especially fun, so everyone who is going be sure to have a good time.

The Rams held a scrimmage at Lindenwood University on Sunday, and the 6,000+ people in attendance were witness to an impressive show by Sam Bradford and the rest of the passing game. Bradford threw for 4 touchdowns and 140 yards on 13-for-20 passing. It looks like the offense, or at least the passing game, is already up to speed on Josh McDaniels new offense.

Bradford was good overall, but he was even better in the red zone, as he tossed 4 TDs in 5 opportunities inside the 20. “Red zone was important for us, and we try to do as much of that as we can,” coach Steve Spagnuolo said. “So that was encouraging.”

On the receiving front, there were some standouts and several players who more than held their own. Danny Amendola caught 8 passes for 70 yards and a touchdown, and new addition Mike Sims-Walker picked up 3 catches for 71 yards and a TD. Brandon Gibson and Billy Bajema each caught a TD as well in the game. More after the break.

I know I go on and on about how great Sam Bradford is, so if you aren’t a fan of that, then this might not be the post for you. If you do recognize how special this kid is, then you are not going to be surprised on bit about what’s going on at the team-organized workouts at Lindenwood University this week. According to several sources who have been in attendance at the workout, Bradford has been making an impression on everyone involved. By all accounts, Bradford has put his outstanding leadership skills on display this week, running the workouts and making sure everyone is in the right place during the on-field sessions. Bradford has been studying the playbook, and he already knows the thing enough to act as a coach on the field, putting guys into position and going over the formations and little nuances involved in the offense. He is walking around the field like he is the man, and that’s because he IS the man.

In a time when there is so little to like about the NFL, Rams fans can rest assured that there is still some positive news out there, especially when this team is concerned. We have a guy like Bradford who is already running the show like a seasoned veteran, and he will be doing so for many years to come. He’s the kind of guy who, instead of relaxing on the beach during the lockout, has his nose in the new playbook. He’s the kind of guy who will invite rookies like Lance Kendricks and Greg Salas to stay at his place during the workouts because they don’t have anywhere else to stay. He’s the kind of guy who organizes workouts and gets 30-plus players to show up when they aren’t obligated to do so. When I hear things like this, it makes me even more frustrated that we are in the middle of a lockout.
