I knew the Rams announcement that they are going to play games in London over the next three years was a big deal, but I couldn’t predict just how crazy things would get here in St. Louis. If you listened to any talk radio on Friday, you couldn’t go five minutes without hearing analysis about what this announcement means for the future of this franchise here in the Gateway City.

First of all, let’s get something out of the way before we get into the meat of the issue. The Rams aren’t going to be moving to London. I heard that a few times today, and I know Roger Goodell is all about expanding the NFL overseas. Still, it makes absolutely no sense to move a franchise in England on a permanent basis. It just wouldn’t work logistically, so until we develop the technology to instantly transport ourselves from one place to another, it’s not going to happen.

Now, on to the major issue. I have been adamant in my belief that this team is staying in St. Louis, but even I am concerned about a move to Los Angeles after this announcement. I know Stan Kroenke has a connection to London because of his soccer team, but I can’t shake the feeling that the NFL is trying to globalize the Rams in preparation for their move to LA. The Rams have been one of the worst teams in the NFL over the last several seasons, so why would the league want to have them as their representative in Europe over the next three seasons?

Maybe the Rams, because of Kroenke, are the only franchise to step up to make that trip on a consistent basis. I don’t know. All I know is, if you were going to move a franchise which has been one of the worst in the league recently to one of the biggest media markets in the world, a strategic play like this to “grow the brand” would just make all the sense in the world. I’m not saying the Rams are moving, but I am saying I’m much more concerned now than I was 24 hours ago.

Fans of the St. Louis Rams are no strangers to losing, so what’s about to happen with the Jeff Fisher saga could just be another shot in a year that has been filled with them. We don’t know what Fisher is thinking or who he will choose between the Miami Dolphins and the Rams, but despite early reports that Fisher was leaning towards St. Louis, it now looks like the Dolphins are in position to snag the veteran coach. Michael Lombardi reported Wednesday that sources told him that Fisher is expected to choose Miami over St. Louis, and that the announcement could be made in the next 24 hours.

The rumors and speculation have been all over the place during this thing, so I would recommend not believing anything until he actually signs a contract. Sources have said that the Rams haven’t been willing to go up to the $7 million asking price for Fisher, and there is still that whole “concern about the Rams moving to LA” thing out there. This whole thing should be over soon, so be ready.

The Rams have continued to set up interviews for potential candidates while waiting for Fisher, and two names who have started to gain some momentum are New Orleans assistant coach Aaron Kromer and Carolina offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski. I don’t know much about Kromer, but I have heard some good things from people around the league. Chudzinski is an offensive mind who has been successful coaching up quarterbacks, but I think it’s safe to say the jury is still out about his head coaching ability.

Don’t forget to stay tuned here at Ramblinfan.com and on Twitter @Ramblinfan for the latest updates on the coaching search and Jeff Fisher.

In the latest development of the Jeff Fisher saga, the veteran coach made the trip to St. Louis on Sunday to check out the facilities and meet quarterback Sam Bradford. Fisher reportedly spent four hours getting the lay of the land here before getting in a car driven by Kevin Demoff and heading out. Sources are saying that Fisher hasn’t made up his mind yet, but I think it’s pretty obvious that things are looking good for us here in St. Louis. There is a report out that Fisher is concerned about the potential of the team moving to Los Angeles, but it doesn’t sound like that will be a deal breaker, especially since it isn’t likely to happen.

This all looks good, and another indication that Fisher could be coming is the former offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels has officially joined the New England Patriots, his former team. It has been reported that Fisher would not retain McDaniels if he took the Rams job, so the fact that the team let him go so quickly makes me believe that they plan on Fisher joining the team. I still firmly believe he will be announced as the next coach in the next few days, and I will be shocked if it doesn’t happen.

Fisher also reportedly already has ideas about who will be joining his staff when he does take a job, with names like defensive coordinator Gregg Williams (Saints DC) being included. I like Williams and what he can bring to the table, and it sounds like Fisher will have the resources to bring in his people if and when he gets the job. Things are getting interesting, and the next few days should say plenty about the future of this organization.
