The IR list got a little more crowded on Friday (as it seems to every day) as the Rams placed OT Jason Smith on as he recovers from a concussion. Smith tried to work out earlier in the week, but he suffered from concussion symptoms when he tried to ramp things up. With the injuries on the offensive line piling up, the team decided to end Smith’s season so they could add another body to the group. To take his place, the team signed G/C Bryan Mattison, who was cut by the Ravens on Wednesday. Mattison has seen some NFL time over the last two seasons, as he has played in 10 games for Baltimore, eight of which came this year.

It was really only a matter of time before Smith was going to go on IR, so I’m glad the team made the move this week. Smith has struggled with concussions already in his young career, and it’s getting to a point where you have to be concerned about his future with this team. He hasn’t lived up to the expecations since coming into the league, and I don’t know if you can count on him to play a full season at this point. It will be interesting to see what happens with Smith next season, but we know for sure we won’t be seeing him suit up again in 2011. More on next page…

It’s Sunday again, and the Rams are going to give winning on the road another go when they take on the Denver Broncos in the Mile High City. This game, like many others the Rams have played on the road this season, is very winnable. It’s getting harder and harder to predict what this team will do on the road, but here are my keys to the Rams getting a notch in the road win column.

Who Are These Guys? – If anyone wants to sit there and tell me that they predicted Kyle Orton and Brandon Lloyd would be putting up huge numbers at this point in the season, I would probably call you a liar. I’m still not convinced this offense is all that great, and I think our defense should be able to handle them. With that being said, we have to keep tabs on Lloyd. If he goes off for a few big plays, I could see things going poorly for St. Louis.

Mile High Effect – I don’t know if the altitude will be an issue for the Rams at all, but after seeing the team stuggled with cramps last week, it makes me wonder where the conditioning level is for some of these guys. I’m would be willing to bet that the game will be fairly close in the second half, and we don’t have enough depth to lose guys for numerous plays because they can’t catch their breath.

It’s Sam’s Time – I have this feeling that Sam Bradford is going to have a big day throwing the ball against the Broncos, and if I’m right, then he will be doing it in front of fellow rookie QB Tim Tebow, who will be watching from the sidelines. I’m not all that impressed with the Broncos’ pass rush, so I expect Bradford to have some time to get through his progressions. He will also have Danario Alexander back, barring a last-minute change, so the weapons will be there.

I have had some bad feelings heading into games in the past, but I actually feel OK about this one right now. The Broncos can be dangerous when they are on, but they haven’t been on nearly enough this season. My prediction is 27-23 Rams, with the defense intercepting Orton on the final drive of the game to seal the deal.

Every week I will make my NFL GameDay predictions. We would love it if you share your opinions, or your own predictions in the comment area of our Fan-Sided forum area. All picks will be straight-up, not against the spread. We are doing pretty good so far going 99-60-1 (62%). My NFL Week 12 Predictions are below. Good Luck to you.

My big underdog predictions last week were the Jacksonville Jaguars over the Tennessee Titans and the Seattle Seahawks over the Arizona Cardinals, both of which were losers. The Jaguars did hold a 11 point lead for a short period of time and the Seahawks had a chance to drive for the winning TD at the end of the game but neither came through. This week I am going to go with the Kansas City Chiefs winner of one of their last 17 game over the ice cold Buffalo Bills. I like the way the Chiefs are at least giving their all for three hours.

Pittsburgh Steelers
Cleveland Browns
Kansas City Chiefs
Miami Dolphins
Tennessee Titans
Baltimore Ravens
Dallas Cowboys
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jacksonville Jaguars
Chicago Bears
Denver Broncos
Atlanta Falcons
New York Giants
Washington Redskins
San Diego Chargers
New Orleans Saints

Last Week 10 – 5 – 1

Year to Date 99 – 60 – 1
