Since I’m still seeing reports that the Rams may be a possible destination for former Giants’ receiver Plaxico Burress, I thought it was important to let everyone know that the troubled wide receiver is scheduled to be released from prison on Monday. I’m happy for the guy that he’s finally out, and I still can’t believe he spent 20 months in prison for accidentally shooting himself in the leg when Mike Vick only got 18 months for his dogfighting fiasco, but that’s a rant for another time.

Since Plax is getting out, it only makes sense to discuss the chances that he ends up with the Rams. Now, I don’t like to say anything has a zero percent chance of happening, but let’s just say that I believe the chances are pretty slim. The Rams have know for a long time that Plax was getting out this summer, so if they planned on making a serious run at bringing him in, I have to think they probably wouldn’t have drafted two WR’s, one of which was brought in specifically to be a red zone threat. I know he has a history with Spags, but I see no reason why we should add him to this roster. I like Plax, and I think he still has something left, but I don’t think I’d rather have him on this team at the expense of a guy like Danario Alexander or one of the rookies. If we bring another receiver in at some p, it has to be a guy who can take over as a true number-one gamebreaker.
