DX On The Fast Lane

Rams wide receiver and former Mizzou star Danario Alexander was a guest on The Fast Lane radio show today at 101 ESPN in St. Louis, and he dropped a bombshell on us. The whole interview was very good, and I’ll provide a link at the end of this post, but DX provided the biggest news we have heard in awhile regarding the 2011 version of the Rams. According to Alexander, the receivers and quarterback Sam Bradford worked out recently, and they lined up and ran plays from the Josh McDaniels playbook that they received during the short stay in the lockout. That, however, is not the bombshell. Alexander relayed that Bradford got the entire playbook from McD and he already knows “the whole thing like the back of his hand.”

Wow. For everyone, me included, who said this lockout was going to hurt the offense because of the new system, this statement has to make us rethink that theory. I’m not saying that this means the offense will be in midseason form from Day 1, but you have to feel good that our quarterback not only has the playbook, but already knows it. Alexander said he was surprised at how well Sam knew the plays, and for someone on the inside to be surprised, it must have been impressive. This just goes to show you how lucky we are to have this man as our signal-caller. Not only is he supremely talented, but he is one of the hardest workers on the team and a consummate professional. I have to admit that, although there is no end to the lockout in sight, I have never been more excited for the upcoming season than I am right now.

Final Rams’ Mock Draft

Since the best weekend of the year is finally upon us, I thought I would give my final mock picks for the Rams through the entire draft. Obviously, this is an inexact science and there’s no way to know who will be available in each round, but I’m going to go by where I have each player ranked and by need of this team.

Before I begin, I wanted to let everyone know what is going to be going on here at Ramblin’ Fan on Thursday. First, I will be making a couple of radio apearances throughout the day talking draft, so watch the Twitter page for times and stations. The only one I have confirmed at this point is with The Sports Reporters on JOCK 98.7 fm in Springfield, MO at 10:40 a.m. For those of you in the Springfield area, tune in and give it a listen. If any other appearances get confirmed, I will try to let everyone know.

Also, we at Fansided will be doing a live chat Thursday night during the first round. You can come on and ask up questions, and we will respond with the answers. If you want immediate draft analysis, get on and participate.

Ok, here we go with the mock. This assumes no trades, although I still believe the team could very well move down in the first round.

Farr Caught On TMZ

As someone who is part of the world of journalism (and for those of you who are thinking that being a blogger doesn’t make me a journalist, I would have to remind you that my day job is as a sports reporter for a newspaper), I have mixed feelings about websites like TMZ. On one hand, I respect the fact that these people have a job to do and they obviously have an audience willing to listen. On the other hand, I know that getting in people’s business and exploiting them to the public isn’t exactly on the top of my “Favorite Things To Do” list. Regardless of what you think about TMZ, you need to take a look at their video of former St. Louis Rams defensive lineman/Super Bowl champion and current St. Louis radio personality D’Marco Farr. Farr is in Dallas/Fort Worth area for the Super Bowl, and he was caught on video going off on a valet at a local restaurant.

Let me just say that I was a huge fan of Farr when he was a player and I’m probably an even bigger fan of his radio work now. This post is in no way meant to shine a negative light on Farr, but as a Rams blogger I think it’s appropriate subject to discuss in this forum. Farr said he was extremely embarrassed today on the radio, but don’t worry D’Marco, we here at Ramblin’ Fan still love you. Here is a link to the video, so give it a look.
