The St. Louis Rams are 0-8 heading into their bye week. What can I say? I mean, what do you expect me to say? We stink. There’s no way around it and there’s almost nothing we can do about it either, so I hope your ready for a long second half of the season and an interesting off-season. As for this particular game, here’s what I saw (or listened to fore free as NFL.com had a free weekend of field pass):

1.) Steven Jackson can’t not get injured. I mean seriously. Let’s go, people. How does Action Jackson go down again? Back spasms? You’ve got to be kidding me. So he goes down midway through the first half and, oh lookie there. He’s done for the game. Okay, we can live with this. Brian Leonard, yeah that guy. That guy who couldn’t get one yard on fourth and one late in the game. What are we gonna do about Jackson being out? Well, we have the bye week this week, so hopefully he can recover in two weeks and be back for week 10.

2.) Marc did well. Well, he did. Our starter wasn’t even in for the whole game and he still passed for over 310 yards. His thumb had to be taped up after he was hit hard by Kamerion Wimbley late in the game. Gus Frerotte came in for a couple of plays. Bulger threw for 310 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception that I don’t really take into consideration when looking at his overall performance because it was the last play of the game on offense. For most of this game he was consistent and led a balanced attack.

3.) They Completely had our number. Before the game, I said that we needed to exploit their offensive strength threw the air. Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow dominated. And that’s exactly what I said couldn’t happen. There’s no way you can expect to win a football game when they can beat you through the air countless amount of times like they did.

4.) We are really messed up. It’s true. This team is complete disarray right now and we just have to take a deep breath. They committed a lot of penalties and we still let them win. Number three is the main reason we lost this football game. They did terrible on the ground, but as long as you have one advantage that you can use over and over again to perfection, your going to win. And that’s what they did.

John Pullega over at RAMblings, our sister site, makes a good point. We should just start rooting for the players on this team to do good individually. Start cheering those individual efforts because this season is lost.

Well, the St. Louis Rams are 0-6, their worst start since the 1960s. The team has had a lot of problems, no doubt but let’s analyze what the problems were on Sunday that led them to defeat for the sixth straight time.

1.) Our quarterback isn’t really good.
Yes, this is somewhat of an understatement, considering just how bad Gus Frerotte did yesterday afternoon. He threw five interceptions in this game, and zero touchdowns. It was the second time, naturally, that the Rams haven’t had a touchdown in a game all season. Let’s just thank god Marc Bulger says he’ll play in this week’s game against the struggling Seahawks.

2.) Our rushing game isn’t really good.
Brian Leonard did start the game, but he only had 18 yards on 12 carries. Plus, the rest of the guys did almost worse as our rushing game only amounted to 67 total yards in this game. Let’s just thank god Steven Jackson is expected to play in this week’s game.

3.) Injuries affect a team’s play.
Yes, it’s very true. Even though the guys on the field aren’t the ones that got injured, the whole team is affected when guys go down. It is hard for an offense to deal with the kind of injuries this offense has had this year. The offensive line was torn apart, our number two receiver along with our starting quarterback and running back both missed considerable time. It’s not going to be easy to play with consistent effort each week when key elements to the team’s success in the past are out.

However, the good thing that comes out of this game is that we lived up to expectations. No one expected the Rams to win this game. The other piece of news worth noting here is that our Rams are still in the race. Yes, amazing as it may sound, an 0-6 team with a division opponent in the next week has a chance to jump right back into it.

With the game against the Seahawks as the number one concern right now, the Rams can be 1.5 games out of first place with a win on Sunday at Quest field in Seattle. We played very well there last year, only losing by two points in each of the two games we played against them last year. Yes, they were very tough games, and we realize how important it is that we win those division games.

For now, let’s look at the task ahead. More news on the status of Bulger and Jackson later in the week.

Also check out our sister site, RAMblings, as Brett Knight does a great job of updating Rams fans throughout the week.

That’s it. No, seriously. I’m not even close to joking around anymore. The season is over. The St. Louis Rams are officially done in 2007. Hey, it was a nice season. I mean yeah, there were some things here and there that didn’t exactly go our way, but overall it was a pretty productive season. I think it officially ended yesterday. Yep, it was definitely yesterday. You know when we were up 20 to 17 with under seven minutes left in the game and intercepted the ball? You know when we had the ball with under seven minutes remaining up by three points and couldn’t win? Yeah, you know.

The St. Louis Rams are 0-5 after what was by far their worst loss of the season, a 34-31 neck and necker against the Arizona Cardinals. The first thing that kills me is how good our offense did in this game. I was rejoicing when Gus Frerotte threw for that touchdown to put us up by three in the early stages of the third quarter. I couldn’t believe it when Brian Leonard ran for 31 yards in the first quarter that would prove to play a key role in that drive, which ended in a Drew Bennett touchdown catch. I just was beside myself. It’s amazing how good we did in this game offensively. Amazingly enough, though, it was the offense that also took us out of this game.

Frerotte threw two interceptions in this game, one of them proved to cap the game for the Cardinals. Rodrick Hood returned an interception from deep in Cardinal territory for a touchdown to put Arizona up 27-20. The defense was nothing really short of stellar, in my eyes. Fakhir Brown, who returned from his four game suspension had two interceptions for the Rams. He did great but it wasn’t enough for a team that coming into the game hadn’t scored a touchdown in 30 straight offensive series.

Another bad sign of play early on in the season for this team had been the penalties. Not in the this game, though. There weren’t much of them for us. The only big one came with zero seconds left in the second quarter when Ron Bartell kicked the ball and was called for delay of game. The Cardinals just so happened to be on the goal line but time ran out before they could make a play to try and score. Turns out, Bartell’s penalty gave them another chance. And that was all they needed as Kurt Warner jumped over everyone and into the end zone for a touchdown that put the Cards up 17-13 at the half. So had the penalty never been enforced, the Rams would have had the lead at halftime.

The other play that went against us was a fumble…by the other team. Edgerrin James fumbled the ball while running in for a score at the goal line earlier in the half. Will Witherspoon recovered the ball for the Rams in the end zone but fumbled as well. Guard Reggie Wells recovered for the Cardinals for a touchdown. That tied the score at ten. So, had the Rams held on to the ball, they would have gotten it back and the Cardinals never would have scored there. So if those two scores never happened, the Rams ideally could have had a 13-3 lead at the half.
