Veteran wide receiver Terrell Owens confirmed via his Twitter account Sunday that he was cut by the Seattle Seahawks.

I’m no longer a Seahawk. I THANK the organization 4 the opportunity, I’m truly blessed beyond belief. My FAITH is intact & will NOT waiver.

— Terrell Owens (@terrellowens) August 26, 2012

The news is unfortunate for Rams and NFC West fans around the world because Owens was never able to matchup against Arizona, San Francisco and St. Louis. A lot of people may say, “why would I even care?” The fact of the matter is that Owens boosts the ratings, in a Tim Tebow-like effort, which would have meant that, during the regular season, the Rams, and other NFC West teams, would have been more prominently featured in the national spotlight. That is no longer the case.

We’re going to miss the “Courtland Finegan is going to cover Sidney Rice, so who is going to line up against Terrell Owens? Janoris Jenkins?” conversations on shows like “Monday Night Countdown” and “NFL Live” that would have put that warm feeling inside a Rams fan’s stomach because the hometown team is finally getting national exposure in some facet.

You cannot argue that Braylon Edwards is going to draw similar interest because he isn’t as big of a nutcase off of the field as Owens is.

For the Rams, and the team’s fans, we’re going to have to look elsewhere to get the national buzz that we feed on to make us feel like we’re part of the conversation…

When I heard that the Vikings planned on releasing Randy Moss earlier today, the first thing I thought was ” here we go again”. Rams fans have already been through this twice this year, with Terrell Owens and Vincent Jackson. Then I thought to myself, “at least this one will be easy to dismiss”. Then, as I’m watching Monday Night Football, I hear Mort say that he thinks the Rams might be the frontrunners for Moss. Obviously, at that point I knew I was going to have to write about this continuously until Moss finds a home. So… let’s talk about it.

Here’s my stance on Moss. As most of you know, I have been on the Rams about adding a true number one wide receiver since before the draft last spring. Moss certainly fits that mold, but I’m going to go ahead and pass here. First, he has proven over the years that if he’s not on a Super Bowl contender, then he’s not interested in playing. I know the Rams are right in the thick of the division race, but he won’t be happy here. Also, he is obviously still madly in love with the Patriots and coach Bill Belichick, as evidenced by his press conference/rant after Sunday’s game. He won’t be happy unless he goes back there, and he will be a major problem for anyone else.

If you could guarantee me that Moss would give 100 percent and not cause any problems, I would say pull the trigger in a second. The fact of the matter is, this organization has made it known they aren’t going to bring in guys with issues, and Moss might be at the top of that heap. I would be shocked if we put in a claim on Randy Moss, but I have been known to be wrong before, so we will have to wait and see. Let’s see what you think. Hit up the comment section and let your voice be heard. If you don’t want to comment, go ahead and cast your vote on the poll.

It was a slow day for the Rams on this Tuesday, but it was a busy one for me. First, I was informed that our own Steven Jackson was to be a guest on the T. Ocho Show that aired on VERSUS at 9:30 CST. If you haven’t heard about this, Bengals’ wide receivers Terrell Owens and Chad Ochocinco have a reality show. I know, big shocker, right? Well I was informed about SJ39′s appearance earlier in the afternoon, and my first thought was obviously to get on here to let everyone in Rams’ Nation know. Unfortunately, our server was down and I couldn’t post, so I apologize. It was actually a pretty neat deal, with SJ answering questions about football and life in general. If you want to see the show, it usually airs a couple of times a day, so check your local listings.

SJ39 wasn’t the only thing I had on my plate today, as I made an appearance on Cat Crave Radio for an interview with Panthers’ host John White. We discussed the matchup for the upcoming weekend, so head over to the site to give it a listen. My part starts at about the 28 minute of the show, but give the whole thing a listen if you want to know more about the Panthers. I just want to thank John for having me on tonight, and I had a great time. After the interview was over, I picked John’s brain a bit about some things that are going on with the football team in Carolina, and I will share those things with everyone tomorrow. Head over to Cat Crave Radio or, for the direct link to the interview, check out CCR Interview.
