This just goes to show you that it can happen to anyone. Vikings’ running back Adrian Peterson was arrested for resisting arrest outside a Houston bar early on Saturday morning. Peterson reportedly pushed an off-duty officer, and it took three officers to handcuff him and send him off to jail. According to reports, Peterson was very drunk and was difficult to deal with for most of the night.

If you never saw this coming, believe me you aren’t alone. Out of all the guys in the NFL who would be on my list as potential candidates to do something like this, Peterson was probably at or near the bottom. I would probably be more surprised if Tim Tebow got arrested for being drunk and disorderly, but that’s about it.

Not to give him a free pass or anything, but this proves that everyone makes mistakes. Peterson has been a class act since coming into the NFL, so this one blip on the radar probably won’t taint his career too badly. I guess my point here is that I have heard some people grumbling about the Rams bringing in some guys who have had trouble with the law, and this proves that just because someone makes a stupid mistake it doesn’t mean they don’t deserve a chance. People do stupid things, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they are bad.

By now I think everyone knows that Peyton Manning is a member of the Broncos, and that Tim Tebow could be heading to a new team. I can’t say that I’m 100% sure, but I’m fairly certain that team will not be the Rams. There was an article over at Profootballtalk.com that listed “Ten off-radar potential destinations for Tebow”, and that list had the Rams atop the list. That isn’t going to happen.

First of all, the Rams aren’t going to waste a draft pick to bring in a backup to Sam Bradford, especially one who doesn’t fit the offense. This team wants a fairly cheap, veteran backup, and it’s usually not that hard to find one of those.

Second, this team has plenty of holes to fill without worrying about Tebow and the circus he would bring with him. Why would they want to put that extra pressure on Bradford? The guy is coming off a rough season, and the last thing he needs is the city of St. Louis clamoring for his backup to take over. Bradford is the future, and this organization isn’t going to do anything to impede his development.

Finally, Tebow just isn’t very good. He might be a great guy and a hard worker, but he’s not a starting-quality NFL QB. The Tebow apologists can point to his record last season all they want, but just watch the tape. He isn’t there yet, and the proof is that John Elway and the Broncos couldn’t wait to replace him. He isn’t going to be a Ram anytime soon.

I really thought that Peyton Manning might decide to join the San Francisco 49ers, and it really made me nervous. So much for that. Manning made his decision on Monday, and he chose to head to the Mile High city to play with the Broncos. I’m sure Broncos fans are jumping for joy right now, but Rams fans should be almost as happy with this news.

With Manning off the table, the Niners aren’t likely to improve their quarterback situation any time soon. Alex Smith will probably be back, and while he had a very nice season in 2011, he still doesn’t scare me. San Fran is very good, but they aren’t unstoppable with Smith under center.

Manning in Denver also means that Tim Tebow could be finding a new home in the near future. I’m not a big Tebow fan, and I honestly don’t understand why any team would trade for him. The only teams that kind of make sense are Jacksonville and Miami since Tebow is still worshipped heavily in Florida, but why would you give something up to get him? It might help out the awful attendance for the Jags, and Miami is still looking for a quarterback, so I guess they could be possibilities. Good luck to whoever makes that decision.
