The St. Louis Rams have signed Kyle Boller. Finally the Rams may have someone to push Marc Bulger. Kyle

Kyle Boller with Tara Reid

Boller is a former first round draft pick of the Baltimore Ravens. We now know the Rams will not be signing the “Gus Bus” Gus Frerotte which should be great news to Rams fans. Kyle Boller previously play in Baltimore with the Rams new center Jason Brown. So on the surface this is another solid move by the new St. Louis Rams front office. Boller is only 27 and should be a huge upgrade over Trent Green. No offense to Trent Green but we have to have a backup that we are not afraid to put in a game, and also a backup that has the ability to push Marc Bulger for the starting spot on the roster. Once Joe Flacco came to town, Boller was never able to get on the field in 2008.

St. Louis Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo said:

“We are happy to add Kyle to our roster. We feel that he will be a valuable addition to our team.”

At 6’3″ and 220 pounds Kyle is a solid pocket passer. He was known for his outstanding arm coming out of California. Kyle never really had many offensive threats at Baltimore other than Derek Mason. I believe Kyle to be a good QB in the NFL and still has an upside that may not have been seen yet. I can see some fear put into other teams when Boller drops back to throw a deep ball to Donnie Avery.

Off the field Kyle has been linked to Tara Reid & Petra Nemcova.

I guess coach Scott Linehan finally heard the wake up call last week when owner Chip Rosenbloom said that changes would be made if things didn’t get better. Scott is going to finally step up and bench QB Marc Bulger after his three games of just horrid play. I don’t want to hear about the O-line, or his lack of confidence, or Steve Jackson still getting up to speed, or the play calling. Our 65 MILLION dollar quarterback has been horrid! So that’s right folks, Trent Green our local Vianney High School product will be taking over Sunday down at the Edward Jones Dome against the 3-0 Buffalo Bills.

This is great news and as a Rams fan I am now fired up to go to the game this Sunday. I know people are saying they still suck, they are still going to lose. Well I “Guarantee” a victory this Sunday against the Bills. I believe things will change. Nobody wants to see sad-sack Bulger in the huddle. Trent is going to pump spirit and life into the O-line. Trent is also very familiar with Al Saunders offensive. In addition Trent has had more work with Donnie Avery in camp than Marc Bulger had. The Rams can even use Eddie Kennison this week as well, who Trent performed with while playing in Kansas City.

Trent Green has had 6 years with over 3000 passing yards in the NFL. In Addition Trent has thrown for 162 touchdowns and amassed over 27,000 total passing yards. He could quite possibly be the best backup QB in the NFL today so why not start him? Trent is only 2000+ yards from being in the top 30 all time for passing yardage. If he plays the final 13 games for the Rams he will move onto that list.

While Scott is actually thinking about making some moves, here’s a thought how about you also bench Tye Hill, Alex Barron, Corey Chavous and Psia Tinoisamoa. What do you have to lose?

As reported earlier the St. Louis Rams were looking at Reche Caldwell. On Tuesday the Rams signed Caldwell to a one-year deal. Caldwell will reunite with Al Saunders and add some much needed depth to the Rams receiving unit. I do not believe it is a lock that he will make the squad in 2008, but for now I would pencil him in at #3 behind Torry Holt and Drew Bennett. Caldwell only caught 15 balls in 2007 for the Washington Redskins in limited duty. The former second round draft pick out of the University of Florida had a good year for the New England Patriots in 2006 with 61 catches and 4 TDs. Caldwell is good at stretching the field which is something the Rams desperately need. He averaged over 12 yards per catch in San Diego and was a flat out burner while at Florida. At 28 years old if Caldwell was ever going to have a break out season this is probably the perfect situation for it to happen. Hopefully the Rams can get Caldwell in town to start working with Trent Green and Marc Bulger.
