This NFL offseason will be remembered for a couple different things, like the Drew Brees contract and guys like Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III starting their careers, but nothing will stand out more than the numerous arrests from drinking and driving. In case you stopped keeping track, here is the list of guys in the league that we know of who have been arrested for driving while impaired: Robert Quinn, Nick Fairley, Kenny Britt, Donald Washington, Marshawn Lynch, Aaron Berry, David Diehl, Justin Blackmon, Jerome Felton, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Brandon Meriweather, Knowshon Moreno and Aldon Smith. Former NFL running back Derrick Ward has seen enough.

Ward took to Twitter on Saturday to impart some wisdom to the guys who apparently need all they can get. Here is a list of tweets, and while it’s long, it’s all pretty interesting and certainly valid.

“Alright NFL players!!! Its absolutely E-N-O-U-G-H!!! Drinking and Driving? How dumb can u be? Its absolutely stupid and your making the good guys that actually do right in the NFL look bad. How easy is it to call a cab to get a ride home? So what? Leave your car get it in the am!? Stop being so dumb! Yes that’s right dumb! I’m sitting here retired enjoyed a great career now all I want to do is become a fan and I see numerous arrest for DWI in the past several weeks? How many has it been this week 4? Absolutely ridiculous your not only putting yourself in danger but your putting other innocent people in danger that don’t deserve your stupidity. Open your eyes and do the right thing. I know what its like to get go out get drunk and debate on weather to drive home or not. Call a taxi! So what if u spend some money to take one or U get a ticket on your car in the am when u go bac 2 get it At least u won’t have to pay bail and then lawyer fees and then miss game checks from being suspended for a few games. Damn this really has me furious and its so avoidable. Tighten up youngsters of the NFL because guess what it doesn’t mean National Football League it really means Not For Long league. There’s no excuse to drive drunk! NONE! If all else fails WALK! NFL players are world class athletes Walking should be nothing!”

If anyone was nervous that the Rams hadn’t signed some of their top picks from the 2012 NFL Draft yet, you can now rest easy. The team agreed to a deal with first-round pick DT Michael Brockers on Thursday. Brockers put his name on the dotted line, and that means that only 3 of the team’s 10 picks are without a deal at this point.

I know Rams Nation isn’t overly excited by Brockers as a whole, but I really like him and I think he’s going to be a great fit with this defense. He is a massive human being, and he still has some development awaiting him at this level even after being named to the All SEC team last year in college at LSU. He might not be the flashy guy everyone was looking for, but I think we are going to look back on this pick as an outstanding move in a few years.

The Rams were so excited about getting Brockers under contract that they tweeted a picture of the big man signing his deal. You can see the announcement on the team’s Twitter feed, or you can follow this link to the picture itself. For those wondering, that is a Dallas Cowboys lanyard hanging out of his pocket. That’s not a great start to his Rams career, but if that’s the biggest concern we have about this kid, I think he’s going to be just fine.

This signing leaves Brian Quick, Janoris Jenkins and Trumaine Johnson as the only picks who remained unsigned by the Rams. I expect all three of these to be done soon, so stay tuned.

I know this isn’t Rams news, but the NFL family lost a great member on Wednesday when Junior Seau was found dead in his home. The police are saying this is an apparent suicide, and he was found unconscious with a gunshot wound to the chest. It’s a sad day for everyone who loves the game and for everyone who got to see Seau play.

I know when I was growing up and falling in love with the game of football, Seau was one of the guys I loved to watch. He was an animal out on the field, and he also always had a smile on his face while doing it. He made the Pro Bowl 12 consecutive times and he was All Pro six times. He wasn’t good … He was great. He was inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame last year, and he certainly earned it.

From reading Twitter and several reports from around the league, it sounds like this was pretty shocking to everyone who knew Seau. He was loved by his teammates, so there are a ton of people out there who have been hit hard outside of his family.

It’s always sad when something like ths happens, and even more so when it’s somebody like Junior Seau. He will be missed by everyone who knew him and everyone who had the privilege of seeing him play.
