2018 NFL Power Rankings: Brandin Cooks, Ndamukong Suh puts Rams on top
By Dan Parzych
22. Seattle Seahawks
After years of being a guaranteed lock for a playoff spot in the NFC, the Seattle Seahawks took a major step back during the 2017 season by failing to even earn a Wild Card spot, as the Rams emerged as the winner in the NFC West. Without question, the defense of the Seahawks wasn’t nearly as effective as they normally are, and if they thought last year was a struggle, just imagine what could be in store for 2018.
By parting ways with key players like Richard Sherman and Michael Bennett, Seattle has made it clear their defense is going through rebuilding mode by focusing on a younger approach, which could go either way. As bad as it sounds, it’s going to be difficult to see a team like the Seahawks have what it takes to compete with the Rams or the other two teams in the NFC West, especially since the offense went through some changes as well.
Losing Richardson and Jimmy Graham won’t be an easy adjustment for Russell Wilson, since the quarterback already needs all of the help he can get as a result of a poor offensive like and awful support in the backfield. For a team that used to be a strong contender, it’s amazing to see how much of a step back Seattle has taken this offseason.
