3. Will Cooks receive an extension?

After weeks of rumors surrounding whether the Rams would potentially pull the trigger by acquiring Odell Beckham Jr. from the New York Giants, the team went in a completely different direction by landing Cooks from the Patriots instead. Clearly, it can seem like a risk to surrender a first-round pick for a player like Cooks if he’s only around for the short term, but luckily Los Angeles has already indicated their intentions to take care of their new wideout’s contract situation sooner rather than later.

Even if the Rams made it clear early on their intentions to hopefully extend Cooks before the start of the regular season, everyone knows that’s always easier said than done at the NFL level since the speedster knows his value. By addressing the contract situation with Cooks as quickly as possible, this will give Los Angeles one less thing to worry about over the next couple of months since the team already has enough on their plate when it comes to other players looking to get paid, mainly Aaron Donald.

Plus, when seeing how the Rams basically gave up a second rounder for just one season with Watkins, they would hate to see the same happen with Cooks. After giving up a first rounder in this year’s draft, Los Angeles wants to make sure Cooks is around a lot longer than Watkins to make this trade worth it.
