2. Joyner could make more money down the road

When looking at all of the money Joyner is going to be making during the 2018 season, it’s hard to feel bad for the safety not receiving an extension since there are a good amount of players that would love to be in his position. However, one positive factor that Joyner has to love about this current situation is he has an opportunity to potentially prove himself worthy of receiving a hefty contract next offseason if he lives up to the hype once again this upcoming season.

In fact, if this does end up being the case for Joyner, there’s a good chance he will make even more money than he would have from the Rams if he agreed to an extension before Monday’s deadline, which has to put a smile on his face just thinking about it. Of course, the argument can be made the complete opposite could happen in which Joyner ends up disappointing in 2018, and ends up seeing fewer offers, but there’s no reason to be negative over the situation.

One of the best things Joyner can do heading into the new season is use playing under the franchise tag as motivation to top last year’s impact, although that’s always easier said than done. But if Joyner picks up where he left off in 2018, and helps the Rams’ defense finish near the top of the league once again, the money will be there when the time comes.
