1. Backup quarterback

Unlike some of the other teams across the league, the Rams are lucky they don’t have to worry about their situation at quarterback since Goff is already showing signs of continuing to get better with experience. As for the situation at backup, well let’s just say these next couple of weeks just became extremely important for Sean Mannion to prove he’s worth keeping around, which is ironic since many believed he should have been the starter at the beginning of last season over Goff.

Watching Mannion finish Thursday’s game by only completing 3 of 13 passes for 16 yards with an interception may end up being the worst performance by any member of the Rams for the entire preseason. And unless Mannion figures out a way to turn things around with a better performance against the Raiders, the Rams could end up giving some serious thought into going with someone else like Brandon Allen in the No. 2 spot at quarterback instead.

No matter what sport it is, every player tends to have a bad game from time to time, but Mannion isn’t in one of those positions in which he can afford to have one like he ddi against Baltimore since his role as a backup is far from guaranteed. Just imagine the level of concern surrounding Mannion if he displays a similar performance against the Raiders like he did agains the Ravens, as the Rams may not even hesitate to quickly move on.
