Los Angeles Rams: 4 reasons Jared Goff won’t be MVP
By Steve Rivera
The one thing I say all the time and that you hear all the time is about the remarkable balance that Rams head coach Sean McVay has at his disposal week in and week out. Beginning on offense with Gurley and Goff, to a stacked defense with Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh, to the best special teams in the NFL, pathways to a victory don’t necessarily flow through Goff under center.
While I got beat up for writing Goff was a system quarterback, HE IS in a remarkable and highly productive offensive system compliments of McVay.
That’s not a knock on him, but he’s gotten the benefit of being tutored by the best offensive head coach in the league and he has the best running back in his backfield.
And oh yeah, he’s had an offensive line who has kept him from having to pick himself off of the turf with any significant frequency.
Again, all positives that have allowed him to flourish in year three of his professional career.
With McVay, the Rams have cobbled together A TEAM who will make a serious championship run this year and next, and if he stays healthy, and most importantly his offensive line and running back remain healthy, he’ll remain in the discussion for MVP, but not a likely winner with arguably the best roster in the NFL surrounding him.
