3 reasons Rams are better off with Darrell Henderson over C.J. Anderson for 2019

3. Henderson will be under favorable rookie contract
As mentioned before, the Lions got an absolute steal with Anderson’s 2019 contract since the veteran running back was hoping to cash in on a major payday, although this doesn’t mean it won’t come down the road.
Depending on how things play out with Anderson during his first season in Detroit, the veteran could end up with a much better contract down the road, whether it happens to be with the Lions or a different team.
Either way, all that matters for the Rams is since Henderson happened to be selected in the third round, this means the team will be able to sign the rookie to a favorable contract that will hopefully look like a steal if he shines on offense.
Yes, there’s always the chance of Henderson wanting a larger contract down the road, but why on earth would Los Angeles worry about this right now before the rookie has even played a single game?
Instead, the Rams are just going to be focused on making sure they use Henderson’s talents to their advantage at an extremely cheap price since despite not signing yet, Los Angeles already knows the kind of deal the new running back will most likely receive.
