Jeffery?

The next treasure to ponder in this dumpster dive of the Eagles is WR Alshon Jeffery: The Eagles recently restructured his contract to shed salary cap space but are still expected to part ways with Jeffery shortly. The Rams would be well-advised to see what he can bring to camp, as well. After three seasons in Philly, the main thing you read about him is “failed to live up to expectations.”

Perhaps a change of scenery to the West Coast for this former All-Pro receiver with the Chicago Bears and pairing him up with a QB who can lob it deep is just what the doctor ordered for Jeffery.

He was coming off the dreaded Lisfranc foot injury and spent almost all of 2020 on injured reserve. He didn’t catch a TD until week 14 in what was a frustrating year for him. That may work in the Rams favor if interested. Prior to the injury, he was an excellent target. Now, after injury and a forgettable season, his asking price should be very affordable.

But then, Philly was a dumpster fire all last year, as the Carson Wentz soap opera unfolded. But just like Jackson, when he’s healthy, he has game-changing potential. He’s been a team player during his time in Philly and has received high marks for his veteran locker room presence and mentoring of Philly’s first-round 2020 pick of WR Jaelen Reagor. Jeffery was a workhorse cow-bell type of receiver when he played for Chicago, leading the team in both targets and receptions.

Putting him on a squad with a capable veteran QB such as Stafford could make all the difference in the world for him.
