Offensive lineman

The LA Rams lose way too many offensive linemen to the 2022 NFL Free Agency market to replace everyone simultaneously. In fact, the mass exodus of Austin Corbett, Brian Allen, Chandler Brewer, Coleman Shelton, and Joseph Noteboom is five of the current twelve players at the position. Even if all five are just reserve players (they’re not), the Rams cannot hope to restock that many players on the offensive line simultaneously.

So a preemptive trade of offensive linemen today would spread that burden between 2021 and 2022.  So what could the Rams possibly hope to get in trading one of the five players listed above? Well, if that player is offensive center Brian Allen, perhaps not as much as the team might wish for. But as we’ve stated previously, the real goal here is simply to free up a roster spot.

The Houston Texans are an NFL team in desperate need of reinforcing their offensive line. Their 2021 NFL Draft resembles that of the LA Rams, their first podium appearance is pick number 67. The Texans enjoy four picks in the last two rounds. So what if they trade a 2021 sixth-round pick?

In this trade scenario, the Texans acquire offensive center Brian Allen, and trade back 14 spots in round six of the 2021 NFL Draft. The LA Rams get a boost to their 2021 sixth-round pick and restore their 2022 fourth-round pick traded with Brandin Cooks last year.
