Edge

Yes, the LA Rams need edge rushers. And yes, OLB Justin Lawler is an edge rusher. So have I snapped? Buckled under the pressure? Not hardly. It’s simply the leverage that the LA Rams have by the speed by which their defensive players were signed so rapidly in the NFL Free Agency market.

There are many teams with unfilled needs at the edge rusher position. And those teams may believe in their ability to fill those needs early in the NFL Draft. But what about those day-three picks.s? Many teams, particularly those in a position to compete for an NFL Playoff spot, find less value than the LA Rams scouting department. Of course, shopping on day one of a draft will give teams less diligence when day three rolls around.

The Buffalo Bills need an edge rusher. A rotational player like Justin Lawler with a year remaining on his contract, his dirt-cheap cost, and his history of having a role on both defense and special teams make Lawler an intriguing prospect for an NFL team in-the-hunt.

Of course, if the Rams are unable to execute a trade prior to the 2021 NFL Draft, the Rams could accept a 2022 draft pick. Depending on the outlook for the trade partner, and their 2022 draft pick status, the delay would warrant an improvement in the pick received.
