Rams fill OL position coach

The LA Rams hired a long-time associate of head coach Sean McVay when they inked Kevin Carberry to step in as the LA Rams’ new offensive line coach. Now, McVay and Carberry have a history together that runs back to their days of coaching with the Washington Football team.

It was only a matter of time before the organization brought in Carberry for an opportunity to coach for the LA Rams. Well, that opportunity happened a bit faster than you may have guessed. Initially, the hope was that Carberry’s connections to former Washington veterans and to collegiate prospects may give the team the inside track on adding depth to the offensive line in the off-season.

A chilly draft swept through the room

When the Rams ignored the offensive line throughout the NFL Free Agency Market, even to the point of not re-signing veteran Austin Blythe, the attention turned to the NFL Draft. Surely the Rams intended to use the insider’s knowledge of college football prospects to guide them in their 2021 NFL Draft.

After all, the LA Rams were staring at multiple offensive linemen in the last year of their contracts. Those linemen included: Brian Allen, Austin Corbett, Coleman Shelton, and Joseph Noteboom. Of course, the team is also facing an imminent retirement of Andrew Whitworth.  So it made sense to bring in a positional coach whose former position as offensive line coach for Stanford University would give the LA Rams front office valuable intel.
