With the 212th pick…

. Offensive lineman. Trojans . Andrew Vorhees. 212. player. 808

Of the 2022 NFL Draft, the Los Angeles Rams select Andrew Vorhees, offensive guard, from USC. How realistic is the belief that the Rams will draft two offensive linemen in the same NFL Draft? Well, with the team facing the potential free agency of four key offensive linemen, compounded by the possible retirement of left tackle Andrew Whitworth? I’d say it’s certainly within the scope of likely LA Rams draft strategies for the 2022 NFL Draft.

Andrew Vorhees is a promising, very versatile offensive lineman who stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 320-pounds.  He has started at left guard, right guard, and right tackle for the USC Trojans, and that is in three college seasons. His likely NFL role is offensive guard, but he has shown the ability to move out and handle business on the outside as well.

The LA Rams will need offensive line depth. With a versatile player like Vorhees, they get a twofer. He can be plugged in at either an offensive guard or offensive tackle, much like the way the team used projected free agent Joe Noteboom. Of course, any player who falls to round six has some concerns, and Vorhees is no exception.

The knock against Vorhees is his lateral movement, which is why most NFL Draft profiles project him as an interior role. That same less than optimal mobility has shown up in the run game, where he has not always gotten into and blocked at the second level cleanly. Still, he has all the raw characteristics of a future NFL starter, and he is coachable.
