Rams are not fooling around

Whether it’s the fact that the Rams have had to scratch, claw, and crawl their way to get to Super Bowl LVI, or the fact that they do not possess the same national fascination as the Cinderella Cincinnati Bengals, the LA Rams feel like too many are ignoring this team. The LA Rams have overcome injury, COVID, and all forms of adversity to get here.

The Rams have gotten a bit healthier with each step along the way.  In terms of the team that takes the football field, this is probably one of the healthiest versions of the team in terms of starters playing in Super Bowl LVI than the team has enjoyed all season long. That should mean something. It has to mean something.

It will mean something.

Too important to lose

This game is so very important to too many players. The LA Rams are playing in SoFi Stadium, have assembled a potent roster that has been building chemistry and communication all season long. The team experimented on offense, on defense, and on special teams. Well, that time of fooling around to find the secret sauce is history. The LA Rams are not fooling around any longer.

I predict that the LA Rams will win by 10+ points. Due to the odd rules of the Super Bowl, the AFC team is the designated home team for this one. But that is a designation only, and will not change the location of the LA Rams’ locker rooms.

I think that the LA Rams will control the clock, will not turn the ball over, and the defense will not give Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow enough time to find receivers downfield. By halftime, we’ll have a strong sense of just how close I may be.  I respect the Bengals, but I just don’t see enough on their team to expect another upset.

I like the Rams to get a touchdown from Cam Akers on the ground, and from Kendall Blanton, Odell Beckham Jr., and Cooper Kupp through the air.  Placekicker Matt Gay could miss one extra point but will boot a couple of field goals to put the game away.

56. Prediction. 33. 51. 21
