A New view for 2022

Now that question is how will this Rams team look next year?  After all, the team was constructed with a one-year or less shelf life.

The offense will be without DB Eric Weddle, who will most certainly return to retirement. He may be joined by 40-year old offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, who has publicly stated that he is pondering putting in his retirement papers at the beginning of the season, and continues to express that ongoing internal debate.

Beyond those two players, the LA Rams front office will need to tackle the 2022 NFL Free Agency matters rather quickly.  Not only does the team have a number of key contributors on expiring contracts, but they also added WR Odell Beckham Jr., RB Sony Michel, and OLB Von Miller to the roster, knowing that all three were only under contract through the end of this season.

Not-so-free agency

While all three could leave via free agency, the Rams hope to free up sufficient salary-cap space to make competitive offers to extend some players. Even if they are successful in doing so, the Rams face several other players leaving via free agency. That includes four offensive linemen, several defensive backs, and more

The Rams are more than $10 million over the cap. Clearly, their first step will be to free up sufficient cap space once more in order to restock the roster. We believe that the front office can and will do exactly that. So after clearing space, who do the Rams re-sign?  Here was our first pass at prioritizing the Rams free-agent priority list. Now after all that, what about Super Bowl LVII?
