While there is a great deal of speculation over who the Los Angeles Rams won't have on the roster in 2025 from NFL analysts, let's start peering ahead to who might be added to the roster. The Rams have gotten off to a rather fast start regarding how successfully the team has rebounded after a disappointing 2022 NFL season, and that all started with a better than expected rookie class from the 2023 NFL Draft. The team doubled down on that positive momentum, once more landing an insanely talented rookie class from the 2024 NFL Draft.

Now, the team must pivot from stopping offenses to scoring points. Even as the Rams are paring the cost of their offensive payroll, outright trading or releasing one veteran while giving two other veterans permission to reach out to other teams, the team needs to enhance the quality of players who do carry the team's banner in 2025.

After all is said and done, the popularity of the annual NFL Draft is buoyed by the alignment of NFL fans optimism with pure euphoria of young men realizing that a door to their dream of competing in professional football, the NFL, is finally coming to fruition. The path to the NFL is never easy, often fraught with impediments that can distract or outright hinder these young hopefuls from achieving their goals.

Along the way, they are inspired by family members, teachers, and coaches. That is why I try to give my full attention to everyone who steps up to the NFL Draft podium. They have a lot to say about the multitude of guardian angels in their lives who helped to get them there.

Of course, one of the first steps to begin that journey is meeting with NFL teams. While the Rams football team is somewhat covert at to who the team meets with prior to the upcoming NFL Draft, we have been successful in identifying some of the prospects who had met with Rams representatives in the past.

Sometimes, those meetings do translate into a selection. But the NFL Draft board has to fall a certain way flr the right prospect to be available when the Rams make their selections. Since that is not often, take heart in recognizing that the Rams may not be able to call out the names of these players, but are interested in their position at the projected draft rounds.

And who knows? If the prospect named in this list are on the board when the Rams make their selection, they could be joining the Rams roster after all:

Offense (18)

  • Center - (1)
  • Offensive Tackle - (2)
  • Offensive Guard - (1)
  • Tight End - (5)
  • Quarterback - (3
  • Running Back - (1)
  • Wide Receiver - (5)

The Rams are almost certainly purposing their early draft selection to the offensive side of the football. The team has been incredibly persistent in trying to trade up for an elite tight end in both 2023 and 2024. The Rams quarterback situation is chaotic right now at best. And the Rams wide receiver room appears to be a tale of losing two-thirds of their group from the 2025 NFL season.

And then you have to factor in the uncertainty of both offensive tackle positions, and the likelihood of trading veteran IOL Jonah Jackson, and you can see that there are many opportunities for rookies to instantly contribute to the team in 2025.

Defense (12)

  • Defensive lineman - (2)
  • Inside linebacker - (3)
  • Cornerback - (3)
  • Safety - (4)

While the Rams defense 'feels' like it is in good shape, the team is projected to lose multiple fireplugs from the defensive line, and struggled to find the right mix in the secondary last season. There are also multiple contributors who may not return, as their contracts have expired. While I would be surprised to see the 2025 NFL Draft focus on the defense, the team still has multiple positions in need of reinforcements.

Special Teams (0)

When the Rams hired new ST Coordinator Chase Blackburn in 2023, the team wiped the slate clean of all special team specialists. That allowed Blackburn to draft his punter, Wingate's Ethan Evans, in 2023. He followed up by signing undrafted UCF long snapper Alex Ward after the 2023 NFL Draft. Finally, he drafted Stanford kicker Joshua Karty in 2024.

By all rights, the Rams special teams are essentially satiated, with the exception of a return specialist and coverage guys. While I won't be as bold as saying never, I would be more than mildly surprised if the Rams add a special team's specialist during the 2025 NFL Draft.

Who have the Rams met with, and when?

Here is a list of rookie prospects who have met with, both formally and informally, representatives from the Los Angeles Rams. Bold names are players who have been mocked to the Rams.

February 25 mock draft

Round 1 (1 pick)

  • Penn State TE Tyler Warren
  • Michigan TE Colston Loveland
  • Georgia S Malaki Starks
  • Texas OT Kelvin Banks

The Rams have one Round 1 pick, so they will undoubtedly want to optimize the impact to the team here. Will the team go tight end? Will the team go left tackle? Will the team try to trade back to add picks? The Rams want to set the stage for another successful draft by making their lone pick among the first 75 selections off the board count.

The tight end position is a curious matter in the 2025 NFL Draft. Typically, the position attracts no more than one rookie selection in Round 1. But with the Rams choosing late in the round, the 2025 NFL Draft could have multiple tight ends hearing their names in Round 1. But which tight end will be there for the Rams?

Round 2 (0 picks)

  • Texas TE Gunner Helm
  • LSU CB Zy Alexander
  • Texas WR Matthew Golden

While the Rams have no Round 2 picks initially, some believe that a trade of veteran QB Matthew Stafford could net the team a Round 2 pick (plus). So If the team adds multiple Round 2 projected prospects to their meetings, that could be a sign that a trade may be imminent.

The Rams are quickly being linked to just about every tight end rookie prospect in this draft, and for good reason. The team has a chance to land an elite offensive weapon that has eluded them for several years. The front office is clearly going to select a tight end in the 2025 NFL Draft. Still, the question remains who will be selected, and in which round?

Round 3 (2 picks)

  • Oklahoma LB Danny Stutsman
  • Texas QB Quinn Ewers
  • LSU TE Mason Taylor
  • Texas WR Isaiah Bond X2
  • Oregon WR Tez Johnson
  • Arizona State RB Cam Skettebo
  • Louisville QB Tyler Shough
  • Texas A&M DL Shemar Turner X2
  • Texas S Andrew Mukuba

While the Rams have two picks in Round 3, they fall late in the round. That means that the team may have some surprisingly talented rookies fall to them in Round 3, or that the cupboards may be bare. Whichever positions the team is targeting in Round 1, they may prepare to catch a Plan B prospect at that positions in Round 3. And in some draft boards, there is not much dropoff from Round 1 to Round 3.

Round 4 (1 pick)

  • Alabama QB Jalen Milroe x2
  • Colorado State WR Tory Horton
  • Georgia C Jared Wilson

One of the Rams most notable selections in Round 4 recently was former Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett. Ironically, Bennett is the lone quarterback who is almost certainly going to be on the Rams roster in 2025.

If the Rams are going to add to the defense, Round 4 seems like an ideal spot to do so.

Round 5 (0 picks)

  • Virginia Tech CB Dorian Strong
  • Sacramento State OL Jackson Slater

The Rams have crushed the draft in Round 5. The team added RB Kyren Williams in Round 5 of the 2022 NFL Draft, and WR Puka Nacua in Round 5 of the 2023 NFL Draft. While the team does not have any picks in Round 5 currently, I would be shocked if the Rams did not manufacture a pick or two in Round 5 just to extend their success in the round.

Round 6 (3 picks)

  • Syracuse S/ILB Justin Barron

The Rams love to have this level of flexibility in Round 6, a round in which the team can target raw players with huge upside, as well as plug holes in special teams. I would be very surprised if the Rams stick with three picks in Round 6, if for no other reason that trading up or back to fill in extensive gaps.

Round 7 (0 picks)

  • Virginia S Jonas Sanker
  • Oregon IOL Torricelli Simpkins III
  • Washington LB Carson Bruener
  • Arkansas WR Isaac TeSlaa

The Rams have had some success in Round 7 in the past, and I expect the team to try to get a Round 7 pick this year. The Rams may not have a Round 7 pick yet, but I would be shocked if the team did not trade picks in this draft and acquire at least one pick.

Priority UDFA signings

  • Nebraska TE Thomas Fidone II
  • Washington LB Carson Bruener
  • Auburn DL Philip Blidi
  • Wofferd CB Amir Annoor

Nebraska TE Thomas Fidone II

Nebraska TE Thomas Fidone II is a solid tight end whose most significant flaw is tossing his hat in the ring for an NFL career in a year with an abundant supply of tight end talent. He is a receiving tight end, but at 6-foot-5 and 243 pounds, he has the bulk, power, and physicality to become an NFL-caliber blocker. Sportskeeda reporter Tony Pauline linked Fidone to a meeting with the Rams.

Washington LB Carson Bruener

While the likelihood of the Rams signing another linebacker after the 2025 NFL Draft may not thrill fans, Washington inside linebacker Carson Bruener may be the exception. Standing 6-foot-1 and weighing 227 pounds, he has the profile of a S/LB hybrid, and he has solid speed, a great presence in pass coverage, and a bloodhound's ferocity for superb special teams play. Once again, Sportskeeda reporter Tony Pauline cites his meeting with the Rams.

With the depth of defensive linemen, running backs, and tight ends, I would expect the team to try signing some of the better undrafted prospects at those positions after the draft concludes. All three roles have multi-functional roles on an NFL roster, as they can compete in their natural positions as well as on special teams.

So who have the Rams met with?

QB Jalen Milroe

TE Colston Loveland

DB Dorian Strong

LB Danny Stutsman

WR Matthew Golden

WR Tory Horton

OT Kelvin Banks

OL Torricelli Simpkins

OL Jared Wilson

WR Tez Johnson

RB Cam Skattebo

S/ILB hybrid Justin Barron

Per Tony Pauline, Justin Barron was one of the biggest 2025 NFL Scouting Combine snubs, and after looking over his body of work, he's right. A late Day 3 prospect, Barron has that hybrid LB/DB feel who could be a versatile tool in DC Chris Shula's mad scientist defensive lab.

LB Carson Bruener

In another Tony Pauline article, Washington linebacker Carson Bruener met with at length with the Rams during his Pro Day.

QB Tyler Shough

OL Jackson Slater

DL Shemar Turner

WR Isaiah Bond

S Andrew Mukuba

WR Isaac TeSlaa

QB Jalen Milroe, WR Isaiah Bond, Edge Shemar Stewart

DL Philip Blidi

CB Amir Annoor

The Rams are just getting started with meeting rookie prospects, and the information regarding those meetings are not readily shared. With the start of the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, I urge you to check in frequently.

Our plan for 2025 is not just to dump a list of meetings with rookie prospects, but to summarize the meetings and point out what that all could mean as the number of meetings increases and patterns begin to form.

As always, thank you so much for reading.
