Week 10: Rams @ Saints

facebooktwitterreddit

This coming Sunday afternoon, it’ll be the Rams and the Saints down in New Orleans. The Rams of course are still winless and coming off a bye week, as the Saints have won their last four games after losing their first four. I will be listening to the game on NFL field pass, and should be posting my first open thread that will available to all Rams fans who visit this site. I will be standing by during the game to discuss anything you’d like about the Rams.

*Offense- The Saints have had an excellent last couple of weeks on offense. It’s the main reason why they’ve come back to .500 after starting the season 0-4. Drew Brees and Marques Colston have been the playmakers on this team. Reggie Bush is still getting used a starting running back job, something he didn’t even do in college (the guy who he worked with, Lendale White, has racked up a few 100 yard games in a row now). Anyway, the rest of this offense has been clicking, as the team beat up on a good Jacksonville defense last week which makes me wonder what type of chance the Rams d will have against an offense that’s been as hot as this one. Brees threw for over 400 yards last week. This unit has been on fire. As of right now, no injuries have been reported for the club on offense, but it always changes (I know it will because right now the Rams are listed as having no injuries. Yeah right). St. Louis could be set up for it’s best week offensively because Steven Jackson and Marc Bulger are both pretty much at 100 percent going into this game. Right now, I am not too concerned with how bad this offensive line is as long as Jackson and Bulger are healthy. Richie Incognito had surgery this week, and he’ll be out for an extended period of time. Also, we still don’t know the status of Brett Romberg for this game so I will assume Nick Lecky should get some snaps, at least. Everything’s looking good for the recievers in this one as it looks like it did on opening day. Everyone’s healthy again.

*Defense- Right now, the Saints are ranked 21st in total defense. I’d like to make a point here. It seems that every single week, the teams that Rams face always seem to have a worse defense or they both match up evenly. It always comes down to the play of the offense for both teams. The defense is cancelled out out persay, and the offense is what wins the games for the other teams. The Rams have a solid defensive unit and I think it’s made big leaps and strides this year. I really do. Adam Carriker, James Hall, and now Victor Adeyanju have been playmakers. How could I even forget Fakhir Brown and Will Witherspoon? It’s really true. This defense has done far better than expected this year. They are ranked 19th in total defense right now. They’ll have to deal with Reggie Bush this week and if all goes well, we could be looking at another 70 yard game for him. This team is also ranked 13th in pass defense and that is going to help us a lot because of the talent the Saints have throwing the ball.

Keys to the Game: Rams

1. We have to make them play a one dimensional game by stopping Reggie Bush. They can’t throw the ball for 60 minutes can they? Well, we’ll make them have no other option and eventually it won’t work.

2. We can have a specatcular game on offense if we try because our men our healthy this week (I don’t mean the offensive line).

Saints

1. They need to utilize what they have. Bush needs to get over 100 yards.

2. Also, don’t think Drew Brees throwing for over 400 yards will automatically win you a game again.

Prediction: Saints 35   Rams 20

Open thread should be here later today.
