The St. Louis Rams signed Chris Long to a long term deal on Sunday July 20th. With St. Louis Rams training camp at Concordia University in Mequon, Wisconsin starting on July 24th, this was an imperative move that needed to be completed. Terms of the new contract are not out on the net yet, and have not been released by the Rams. I would guess like most of the top picks Chris will be getting a 5 or 6 year deal, with a large signing bonus. Once we are able to find the terms we will post them for you. Chris Long as you know is the son of Hall of Fame father Howie Long. It is very important that the Rams get all of their pieces in place and gel early. The Rams first seven opponents in 2008 had a combined 73-39 record with a Superbowl championship. For a Rams team that started 0-8 in 2007, this means a harder training camp, and pre-season will be ordered. Chris will be projected to be the Rams starting right defensive end heading into the 2008 season.

In other notes the St. Louis Rams also signed Chris Chamberlain, their seventh-round pick out of Tulsa. Chris will have a great chance to make the Rams with their current shortage of LB depth and his ability to play on special teams as well.

The Rams have now signed five of their eight 2008 NFL draft picks.
