Rams Hold On In Denver

I’m not going to lie, I was trying to be calm as the fourth quarter wound down on Sunday, but I found myself nervously and feverishly pacing back and forth until the Broncos’ final play from scrimmage. I mean, it’s not like the St. Louis Rams have the best track record in winning close games on the road this season. Today, however, the defense sacked up and got after Kyle Orton on the last drive to seal the 36-33 win. It might not have been the prettiest win, especially in the fourth quarter, but it was a road win nonetheless.

How good is Sam Bradford? I understand that the Broncos don’t have the best pass defense in the NFL, but this guy just continues to prove that he is a special talent. His day included his first road win, first 300-yard passing game, and first three touchdown game. Not bad for a guy with just 11 NFL starts and a group of unknown receivers under his belt.

Speaking of receivers, how about DX? Four catches for 95 yards, and he should have had a touchdown as well. When this guy is on the field, there is a different dynamic to the passing game. If he can keep himself healthy, this offense could be the real deal going forward. There’s a reason why I talk about him all the time on this blog. He brings a different level of excitement.

I realize that there is a little too much love going on right now, so I’ll give a more comprehensive review tomorrow with some of the negatives from today as well. Before I go, let me leave you with this… We are in first place in the NFC West again. As I was watching the pregame for Sunday Night Football on NBC, they had an NFC playoff glance, and the Rams were in the group with division leaders. I was giggling like a schoolboy when I saw that.
