Chilly Coming For An Interview

As the Rams’ search for a new offensive coordinator continues, the second of the leading candidates is set to come to town for an interview early this week. Former Minnesota Vikings’ head coach Brad Childress is expected to be in St. Louis for an interview either Monday or Tuesday. While I’ve made it no secret that Josh McDaniels is my top choice, I wouldn’t be at all shocked if Chilly ends up getting the job. He and Steve Spagnuolo are good friends, and I think he would do a pretty good job.

That brings me to a discussion point that was brought up on 101 ESPN today during the afternoon show. Let me first say that I’m a big fan of Coach Spags, and I think he has done a great job with the franchise. With that being said, I agree entirely with the point that was made on the show that Spags needs to have less influence on the offensive side of the ball. He needs to hire an OC and turn Sam Bradford and Co. over to that man entirely. It was fairly obvious that the conservative play-calling was at least in part on the direction of Spags. He is a great defensive mind, but great coaches know when to delegate responsibility. It looks like the new OC will be an excellent candidate, and he needs to have full-run on the offensive side of the ball.
