Tonight the Rams could go in a million different directions. They could trade up or they could trade back. They could take this player or they could take that player. For once their is some drama on draft day for Rams fans, and nobody really knows exactly what they are going to do. Mike Mayock has the Rams taking Vaccaro and Ogletree, while Todd McShay has the Rams taking Vaccaro and Lacy. Well, here is a preview of what I think may go down tonight at 8pm ET.

The Rams have eight picks tonight with three of them coming in the top 50. Experts are saying that the time to pick is between 20-50 and two of the Rams picks come in that range. The positions of need for the Rams are safety, wide receiver, outside linebacker, running back, and offensive line. The Rams will try and pick the best player available while also filling a position of need. If the Rams execute that like they did last year they will be in good shape.

At 16 the Rams have a lot of options, they would like to trade down, but if they want to get any of the top players in the draft they may have to trade up. ESPN’s Todd McShay has reportedly heard a lot of “buzz” that the Rams would like to trade up to get Tavon Austin. When all is said and done I think the Rams will in fact get out of 16 and move up if the price is right.  The Rams front office is smart enough to not make a stupid desperate trade. There are a lot of teams that would like to move down, just not a lot that want to move up. Possible trade partners to move up could be the Buffalo Bills or the New York Jets.

At 22 the Rams will once again try their best to get out as they have already said that they would like to trade back. A team that picks early in the second round that wants to get a jump on one of the quarterbacks could try to trade back into the first round. The Rams could be a trade partner for one of those teams. I would expect the Rams to be very active tonight, trying to make a lot of trades.

It will also be interesting to see which direction the Rams go. The Rams have two first round picks and you have to wonder if they will go all offense, all defense, or go one offense one defense with those picks. If the Rams went two defensive players, there is no doubt they would be one of the best defenses in the league. The Rams are built around the defense as the defense is what holds the team together, it would not surprise me if the Rams went all defense in the first round and waited until day two to address the offense especially if Cordarrelle Patterson and Tavon Austin are off the board.

Well Rams fans it’s that time. No more mock drafts, no more trying to predict what will happen. In four long hours until the draft finally starts and the Kansas City Chiefs are on the clock. It’s now up to the GM’s and coaches to draft who they think will benefit the team. Time to go get on my jersey and put together some wings before the commissioner gets on the stage. Remember the draft begins at 8PM ET and will be shown on ESPN and NFL Network.
