The race for the Deacon Jones award is becoming an interesting one, especially toward the top where Indianapolis Colts linebacker, Robert Mathis, leads St. Louis Rams defensive end, Robert Quinn, by only a sack and a half even though it feels like Quinn should be in the lead after he just missed sacking McCown numerous times.

With just a one game over a quarter of the season left to play the race to the finish will be filled with drama for sure. Here are the sack standings after week 12.

1. IND LB Robert Mathis- 14.5

2. STL DE Robert Quinn- 13.0

T3.  BUF DL Mario Williams- 11.o

T3- KC LB Jusin Houston- 11.0

5. NE DE Chandler Jones- 10.5

6. NYJ DL Muhammad Wilkerson- 10.0

T7. BAL LB Elvis Dumervil- 9.5

T7. NO DE Cameron Jordan- 9.5

T7. HOU DE JJ Watt- 9.5

T10. BAL Terrell Suggs- 9.0

T10. DEN DE Shaun Phillips- 9.0

T10. KC LB Tamba Hali- 9.0

T10. DAL DT Jason Hatcher- 9.0

With five weeks left to play anything could happen, and with 13 players in the top ten and only 5.5 sacks separating 10th from 1st, anything can and will happen. Anything can change in just one week.

This week the Robert Quinn and the Rams will play the 49ers who have allowed the 12th lease amount of sacks this season with 26. Last time those two teams played, Quinn recorded one sack. As for the Colts, they play the Titans who have allowed the 14th least sacks with 27. When Mathis and the Colts played the Titans a few weeks ago Mathis did not record a sack.
