The Rams missed out big time when it came to the free agent safeties. As mentioned before, Byrd signed with the Saints and possibly the Rams’ number two, Malcolm Jenkins signed with the Eagles.

Clemens was ranked as the 19th best safety on Pro Football focus and as mentioned in out free agent safeties not named Jairus Byrd or T.J. Ward story, Chris Clemens is your prototypical center fielder safety, and is pretty good in coverage allowing only a 52.4% catch rate which ranked 10th best among all safeties.

The areas Clemons struggles in is the run game and tackling as he ranked towards the top of his position in missed tackles. Clemons has however started every game the past two years which is a plus.

Clemons isn’t an Earl Thomas caliber safety by any means, but he does fill a hole that the Rams have. Signing Clemons would give the Rams flexibility in the draft if they wanted to wait until later to draft a safety or even if they drafted a Clinton-Dix or Pryor, they could develop under Clemons.
