Former Los Angeles Rams Cornerback Coty Sensabaugh Joins New York Giants

Coty Sensabaugh was released by the Los Angeles Rams after playing just three games into his three-year contract.

Prior to the start of the 2016 season, the addition of Coty Sensabaugh was considered one of the key moves by the Los Angeles Rams when it came to replacing Janoris Jenkins, who joined the New York Giants in the offseason, at cornerback. In an ironic twist following his release from the Rams, Sensabaugh will now be joining Jenkins as a member of the Giants.

Less than one week after his release from Los Angeles, Sensabaugh signed a one-year deal with the Giants to help fell the team’s need at the cornerback position. Unfortunately for New York, the injury bug hasn’t been friendly to the team at cornerback with Eli Apple and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie both dealing with groin injuries.

Originally, Sensabaugh was brought on board with Los Angeles on a three-year deal, but the team was disappointed with the cornerback’s play over the first three games, and even deactivated him for their Week 4 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Shortly after, the Rams decided to take the financial hit with the release of Sensabaugh, which believe it or not may come back to haunt them with the news of Trumaine Johnson being out indefinitely with an ankle injury.

The verdict is still out when it comes to how effective Sensabaugh will be as a member of the Giants, but nobody could have written this script back in the preseason when the cornerback was battling for the No. 2 spot. Up next, the Rams look to get back on the winning track with a key road matchup against Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions on Sunday.
