Todd Gurley Reportedly Expected to Play Week 10: Fantasy Outlook
Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley is reportedly expected to suit-up on Sunday.
The Los Angeles Rams will have their No. 1 running back on Sunday, as Todd Gurley is expected to be active against the New York Jets.
Gurley popped up on the injury report on Wednesday with a thigh issue, however he was able to get in a full practice on Friday, cementing his status for Week 10.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter confirms:
The Rams have had a tough time getting the ground game going this season. Los Angeles ranks 29th in rushing yards per game and Gurley, who is averaging 3.1 yards per carry, has yet to cross the century mark in any game this season, a streak that dates back to his rookie campaign.
Todd Gurley Fantasy Outlook vs. Jets
Gurley’s problems aren’t going away this week. The Jets have had their way with opposing rushing attacks, ranking fourth in yards allowed per contest. An absolute mean defensive front featuring Muhammed Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson is likely to create problems for Gurley all day long.
If there is some light at the end of the tunnel, it’s in PPR leagues. Gurley has seen his receiving numbers go up from a season ago, totaling 194 yards in eight games after posting 188 in 13 last season. Expect to see a lot of dump-off passes and action through the air for the sophomore back.
The difficult thing is for those who are in standard leagues. Gurley isn’t running for a lot of yards, nor is he crossing the goal line for points. He’s a huge risk to start every week with the situation in Los Angeles as is, and you might be wise to find another option if you have depth at the position.
However, most people don’t, therefore making it impossible to bench one of the most disappointing fantasy players in 2016.
Week 10 Projection: 15 carries, 47 yards; 5 catches, 51 yards
