Could the Los Angeles Rams Part Ways With Jeff Fisher After Week 12?

With the way the offense of the Los Angeles Rams has been struggling, could the team end up parting ways with Jeff Fisher after Week 12?

Prior to the start of the 2016 season, there were plenty of talks regarding the possibility of Jeff Fisher receiving an extension from the Los Angeles Rams as the head coach was entering the final season of a five-year deal, despite never recording a winning record. Luckily, the organization never moved forward with the decision as there’s been plenty of discussion all season about whether it was going to actually happen, but the situation could become more interesting if the Rams fall to the New Orleans Saints in Week 12.

Back in October, reports surfaced that Fisher’s fate with Los Angeles would be determined in the next four games after the Rams were embarrassed by the New York Giants in London. After jumping out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter, the Rams failed to score a single point over the rest of the game as Case Keenum threw four interceptions while the team went on to lose to the Giants 13-10.

If that is in fact the case in regards to Fisher’s fate being determined over the next four games, Sunday’s meeting against the Saints will in fact be the fourth game since the reports started to surface about his fate with the team. And when looking at the first three games of Fisher’s audition, it’s not looking good for the head coach.

Even if Los Angeles did pull off a 9-6 win against the New York Jets in Week 11, the Rams’ inability to find the end zone that game certainly didn’t help the team feel more confident about having Fisher as their head coach. Not to mention over the team’s last four games, Los Angeles has only scored 39 points combined.

With this in mind, it’s no wonder why the Rams are dead last in the NFL by averaging just 14.9 points per game as the offense seems to have officially hit a new low when compared to last year, which didn’t seem possible. While a strong outing by Jared Goff against the Saints could end up helping Fisher earn a little extra time to prove he deserves, it still wouldn’t take away from how disastrous this offense has been in 2016.

Hopefully, Fisher’s fate does end up being determined once this fourth and final game of his “audition” comes to end on Sunday against New Orleans. Even if Los Angeles does find a way to win this game, it still wouldn’t help Fisher’s case as all signs point to the head coach finishing the regular season with yet another losing record, as it would be wise to just part ways with the head coach at this point.
