Los Angeles Rams former running back Tre Mason is eyeing a return to the National Football League.

Former Los Angeles Rams running back Tre Mason is looking to get back to football. According to TMZ Sports, Mason is “laser-focused” on leaving a world of trouble behind. For those who do not remember, the former Auburn Tiger missed all of 2016 after several run-ins with law enforcement.

The TMZ report says that the running back is working with former Auburn teammate Ricardo Louis for “major offseason workouts.” Louis stated that Mason is putting in the work to help him get back into the National Football League in 2017.

Mason was not with the Rams when they made the move from St. Louis to Los Angeles last season. A season that saw him making more news off the field, than on it.

According to Al.com, during a press conference to announce the signing Andrew Whitworth, Los Angeles GM Les Snead commented that Mason had met with the Rams recently.

“Tre visited us within the last month,” Snead said. “Throughout the process, we’ve been communicating with him, his family, his agent at different points on the timeline.”

Mason was placed on the did not report list when he failed to show up for training camp last season. He had been excused from the Rams offseason training program due to an arrest in Hollywood, Florida on March 5, 2016. According to reports, he’d been pulled over for going 75 mph, in a 35 mph zone. Mason would not identify himself, and he would eventually be arrested for resisting an officer and obstruction without violence.

Local law enforcement visited the Mason home on five different occasions between his March traffic stop and an ATV incident in July of 2016.

The Rams finally waived the running back on March 10.
