As the Rams get ready for this Sunday’s showdown in Seattle, they suffer some more injuries. Well, you know what they say, you have to give to get. So I guess I would give up Drew Bennett and Brett Romberg for a week to get Steven Jackson and Marc Bulger back as starters. Bennett could be sidelined for this Sunday as he injured his hamstring last week in Baltimore; we still don’t know.
As for Romberg, the guy who took over the starting center spot at the beginning of the season, he suffered a sprained left ankle in the same game. He had an MRI exam on Monday as Andy McCollum was shifted into the starting center role and Claude Terrell was activated to play left guard, the spot where McCollum was playing. Romberg is the ninth offensive lineman to go down for us this season. As far as I’m concerned our line now looks like this: Barron-Terrell-McCollum-Incognito-Brown. God only knows how long it will remain like this.
As for Bennett, backup Brandon Williams got some time in practice yesterday.
Plus, newly signed WR Travis Taylor was also in uniform. Steven Jackson returned to practice as things aren’t looking quite as bad as usual.
To make room for Taylor, the team sent linebacker Roonall Smith to the injured reserve.
Isaac Bruce was also suited up. Bennett wasn’t.
By the way, I was able to interview Isaac Bruce earlier in the week as Bruce took part in a charity event in St. Louis to refurbish a football field. Bruce spoke with me about the event and his foundation. You can listen to the interview here.
