As reported earlier the St. Louis Rams were looking at Reche Caldwell. On Tuesday the Rams signed Caldwell to a one-year deal. Caldwell will reunite with Al Saunders and add some much needed depth to the Rams receiving unit. I do not believe it is a lock that he will make the squad in 2008, but for now I would pencil him in at #3 behind Torry Holt and Drew Bennett. Caldwell only caught 15 balls in 2007 for the Washington Redskins in limited duty. The former second round draft pick out of the University of Florida had a good year for the New England Patriots in 2006 with 61 catches and 4 TDs. Caldwell is good at stretching the field which is something the Rams desperately need. He averaged over 12 yards per catch in San Diego and was a flat out burner while at Florida. At 28 years old if Caldwell was ever going to have a break out season this is probably the perfect situation for it to happen. Hopefully the Rams can get Caldwell in town to start working with Trent Green and Marc Bulger.
