Rams Get All Padded Up
By Ethan Novak
For the first time in this year’s training camp the Rams practiced in full pads. Once again every single member of the Rams showed up to practice and from what I am hearing, this was one of the most intense and energetic practices out of the Rams in recent history. Another great piece of news is that all the Rams made it out of this practice with nothing more than a few bruises (which let’s be honest here, comes with the territory). A few camp highlights:
- Donnie Avery appears to have improved his route running skills, burning CB Ron Bartell during one on one drills.
- Fourth Round Pick Darell Scott is holding his own in practice. Picking up a few tackles and wreaking havoc in the pocket.
- 2nd overall pick OT Jason Smith had a nice practice. He struggled with the pass rush during one on one drills, but in a report from stlouisrams.com, it appears he recovered nicely during team drills.
- At point during the drills, OJ Atogwe made a tremendous interception, diving for the ball before getting back to his feet and returning it for a score. It appears Atogwe will resume his role as defensive playmaker for this team.
For the Rams second practice they switched back to shorts and shells and despite beliefs that the weather would affect the session, the Rams got all their work in and so far are having a teriffic training camp.
