Rams vs. Bengals Tonight!

Usually in the third preseason game, the first stringers receive a large amount of playing time and go over several “vanilla” style playbook calls. Well tonight should be no exception, except when it comes to the QB and WR position.

QB Marc Bulger remains out with a fractured pinky, although he should be able to come back next week or the week after at the latest.  This gives backups Kyle Boller, Brock Berlin, and Keith Null plenty of opportunity once again to show that they deserve the backup role.  All three have had their high and low points, but this will prove to be a crucial game in terms of depth chart.

WR Donnie Avery, who returned to practice well ahead of schedule, will remain out for tomorrow I would imagine.  Laurent Robinson will once again be the primary receiver and look for him to once again light it up in the statbook.  Tim Carter also returned to practice and played with the scout team.

Finally, once again keep an eye on the RB battle.  None of the runningbacks have made too big of strides to take over as Steven Jackson’s backup.  Samkon Gado followed up an incredible game with an absolutely miserable game, and the rest of the running backs have been average at best.

The game will start at 7:30 ET.
