Rams Trade CB Tye Hill To Atlanta

In a very surprising move, the Rams have traded CB Tye Hill to the Atlanta Falcons for a 7th round draft choice in next year’s draft.  Hill was the Rams 1st round draft choice in the 2006 draft, but was plagued by injuries over his short time with the Rams.

This came as a surprise to me because over the last couple season the Rams have struggled to keep any real source of depth in the secondary.  I’ll admit Hill never even came close to achieving his full potential (although I still feel he was a reach), so I am officially crowning him with the title BUST.  The Rams draft Hill with the hope that his tremendous speed (4.3 40 yard dash) would help him cover just about anyone in the league.  What they couldn’t realize however is that he would turn out to be a very undersized corner who struggled to stay healthy.  So just for a quick “what could have been moment”, here are the players the Rams passed up to pick Hill in the 2006 draft:

  • CB Antonio Cromartie
  • LB Demeco Ryans
  • RB Joseph Addai
  • DT John McCargo

Imagine having Cromartie in a Rams uniform?  Excuse me while I break my professional manner when I say “THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!”  Although I guess I’ll have to live with whatever player we pick in the seventh round next year (Maybe Tebow will still be around?)

In other news, the Rams released TE Joe Klopfenstein which really came as no surprise to anyone.

WR Brooks Foster was placed on Injured Reserve.

QB Marc Bulger stated that he will be ready to go by the opener.
