Finally… A Wide Receiver!
By Justin Stine
The Rams didn’t waste any time making the first pick of the third day this morning, as they selected Cincinnati WR Mardy Gilyard before the clock had barely started. I must say that I like this pick more than any other selection we have made in this draft excluding Bradford. Gilyard brings something we sorely need: playmaking ability. He was a machine for Cincy last season, and he is a fun guy to watch. He can be a dynamic return man, and he should be ale to contribute in that capacity immediately. His size is fine at 6-0, but there are questions about his top-end speed. Hs 40 time was clocked in the 4.60 range, but scouts say he is faster than that in game situations. The kid is also hungry to work and get better, as he came from a rough upbringing to make himself a success. he has a great personality as well, so Rams fans will enjoy him hopefully for many years to come. Good work Billy and co. on this pick.
