Decision on Kroenke Might Wait Until Summer
By Justin Stine
The Rams ownership situation isn’t likely to get any clearer any time soon, as the NFL isn’t expected to hold their vote on Stan Kroenke’s bid until sometime this summer. Kroenke is still trying to figure out how to get around the league’s cross-ownership rule, and apparently he hasn’t found a solution just yet. The latest report on the issue suggests that Kroenke’s wife, Ann, may get the team through a transfer from her husband. For those who don’t know, Ann is the heiress to the Wal-Mart fortune and is actually worth more money than Stan himself. I don’t know if the league will accept this option, but it seems like a pretty good idea. These people have more money than most of us can even imagine, and they obviously want to be a part of this franchise. Both are avid sports fans, and their family has a long history with St. Louis. It obviously can’t hurt the league to have big money like this involved, and it would certainly be good for a team that is toiling in obscurity as we speak. I don’t know what is going to happen, but I do know that something needs to happen soon so we can move forward.
In a bit of disappointing news, it appears that rookie receiver Mardy Gilyard will miss a nice chunk of OTAs because the University of Cincinnati doesn’t graduate until June. This kind of thing happens quite a bit, but it is still a bit discouraging that he will be behind a bit.
